Why You Must Lose Your Employee Mentality To Become Successful Online

A lot of people like the idea of working online and earning real money from home, but they refuse to lose their employee mentality.

Unless you’re trying to land an online job, you’ll have to change your mindset to start generating the big income online – $5k, $10k, and more every month online. The most successful people online are entrepreneurs. Just like offline businesses, you cannot be a successful entrepreneur with an employee mentality.

So, what is an employee mentality, exactly?

Employees fully rely on a higher authority or entity (company) to provide them with work every day and a weekly paycheck.

Employees want instant gratification. They work and expect to get paid for said work on a regular basis. It’s the most basic exchange of time for money (linear income).

Employees place themselves in a victim position. If anything happens at their company, they will likely be the victim and suffer at the hands of the company. This can include being fired, laid off, downsized, transferred, etc.

Employees want stability. They typically don’t like taking risks and would rather prefer to have a guaranteed salary than the ability to choose their income.

Employees need and expect their superiors to be their leader.

The Illusion

I am not bashing employees, the world could not function without employees. Not everyone can be a business owner and some people prefer to be employees their entire lives. And sometimes you have to be an employee to save money to start a business. There is a time and place for everything.


If you want to take control of your financial future, you cannot be an employee. The thought that have a job is more stable than owning a business is purely an illusion.

There is no stability in having a job.

I don’t care what job you have, what company you work at, or how long you’ve been with that said company.

I talk to people almost every day who tell me how they were laid off the company they worked at for 20 years, earning six-figure annual salaries. People assume that a company owes them something and because of their dedication. While in a perfect world this should happen, it is NOT guaranteed.

After all, in the world of business, it’s considered just that… business. It’s not personal.

America is and was always designed to favor corporations – not employees. This is a fact most people either don’t know or want to accept. Employees are considered the CONSUMERS. Purely to make the wealthy even richer. This is why the government rewards corporations by cutting their taxes, yet expects the poor and middle class to pay higher taxes.

As an employee, you will always be at a disadvantage no matter how much you earn or your impressive job title.

If you want to take control of your financial future, you cannot be lured into the mindset that you are secure in your job. Let me repeat: there is no such thing as job security!

Losing your employee mentality will not happen overnight. It’s a process that takes years. I am still struggling to lose it.

But, you must try to overcome that instant gratification mentality if you want to really achieve financial freedom, whether offline or online.

Success Fact

Becoming successful is usually NOT an event like the media portrays on these shows like American’s Got Talent, American Idol, Shark Tank, etc. Average people think that getting rich is an event, that’s why they play the lottery – for instant gratification. It’s that employee mentality kicking in.

Achieving true financial freedom is usually a process that takes months if not years. It requires shedding away your old, limiting beliefs and transforming into an entirely new person. It requires a lot of personal development, perseverance, and transformation of the mind.  It’s a journey. All of these things go against the employee programming most of us have been instilled with.

All of this you must be willing for if you want to become successful online and achieve real financial freedom. The kind of money that keeps coming in while your sleep, eat, travel, and everything else. The six, seven, and eight-figure income. Most people are not willing to sacrifice and so they remain employees with the masses.

Only you can make the decision for your future. But you can’t get rich with an employee mindset.
