Social Media Marketing – Are You Being Consistent ?
How times have changed !
We used to get our news talking to our neighbours, or at community gatherings, and meeting up with friends.
I don't think I have seen my neighbour for almost three months , except for the occasional wave in the morning !
Now, we talk on social media, and this has become the norm for many, even with friends and family !
What about our business lives ?
I recently read an article by Celene Harrelson, and have included some of her comments here -
People get to know you on Facebook and Twitter, and decide whether they trust you to do business .
The image you portray on social network sites should be consistent.
Are you being authentic about who you are and what you do?
Does your blog say one thing, your Twitter profile another and your Facebook something else entirely ?
Is your look consistent, and does your 'feel' and message in your social media marketing, the same wherever people find you online ?
You are not meeting your clients in person, so it’s important that the photos you use on Facebook are the same on Twitter and your blog - be consistent !
Use a recent photograph, not one of you at high school graduation, or at a costume party five years ago - you may not look as good now, but you need to be realistic about this !
You should be recognizable wherever you are seen online, therefore your “look” needs to be consistent - and professional !
Is your message consistent ?
Your clients should understand your business - your business profile should explain this clearly, and the same profile should be repeated across the board.
Inconsistent profiles will muddy the waters and confuse your potential clients.
Clients become accustomed to your message and image, so it is important to get it right first time !
You may become more familiar within your tweets and posts, and in fact, this often helps them like you and want to do business with you
Just remember, your 'ABOUT' information in your all of your profiles must convey the same information.
Be consistent in your social media marketing !
To Your Success !

| | | | | Thanks to all of you here for your comments !
Consistency is important if you want to build a relationship, and I have to say that IBO has made it so much more enjoyable. |
| | | | | Thank you for pointing this out. I only recently have begun making sure things are consistent. Thank you to Julie for your comments |
| | | | | Excellent information. I learned something today. |
| | | | | You have brought up an import issue about which many are unaware. I'll add to your "consistency" tips that you should also keep your phone number and address in the same format. If you post your phone number as 123-456-7890, then always use that format. Don't change it to (123) 456-7890. If you use Ave., don't change it to Avenue on the next site. |
