Is It DETOX?

The first few weeks on as a new Thriver, you may experience a short period of time as your body, metabolism, and gut biome adjusts. Your body detoxing from toxins, acidic foods/drinks, free radicals, and more is NORMAL! Look at the below detox symptoms as a good sign that these nutrients are being ABSORBED, digested, and enabling your digestive system to do its job. As always, if you have concerns due to personal health challenges, consult your Doctor (who hopefully is well-versed on plant-based nutrition and gut health) for advice.

First, before you think something is “wrong”...

  • How much water are you drinking (your current body weight, divided by 2, put ounces at the end) i.e. someone who weighs 180lbs should drink a minimum of 90oz of water. More if you’re active or are in a hot/humid climate.
  • Are you taking Thrive EXACTLY as intended?
    • 1-2 capsules upon waking, while on an empty stomach, drink water!
    • Wait 20-30 minutes, while still on an empty stomach, then drink lifestyle mix. Lifestyle mix is most effective when only mixed with liquid (adding food or other ingredients to make it a “smoothie” takes away some of the effectiveness)
    • Apply DFT to clean dry skin
  • Avoid caffeine, especially coffee -- coffee is one of the most acidic beverages out there, and can interfere with the digestive system & your gut health.
  • Are you eating? You need to eat real food! Thrive is not a meal replacement type of system, although the Lifestyle Mix is filling and CAN be used as a meal replacement, it’s only about 120 calories, and was not intended for replacing a full meal -- listen to your body.
  • Are you going through any external non-Thrive related issues? This could mean (ladies) your cycle, hormones, outside stress, weather changes, new medications, proper sleep, etc. Consider that “issues” could be non-Thrive related. People tend to “blame” Thrive, but in reality, Thrive is helping support your body by adding premium nutrition to it.

Appetite Changes

As your metabolism changes, and adjusts to having premium grade nutrients available to it at all times, your body will begin to realize it can use stored fat for energy rather than waiting on artificial energy such as caffeine, sugar, and carbs. As this happens, you may experience hunger! Listen to your body - eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full. Drink LOTS of water and eat breakfast (lean proteins with healthy fats for breakfast is great for lots of people) to keep you satisfied.

Fatigue and/or Headaches

A reduction of artificial sweeteners, chemicals, and caffeine (from coffee or diet soda) all at once can lead to headaches for some people. During this time, be sure to keep hydrated and get proper rest. Remember that your body is a miracle - it knows what to do with these plant-based ingredients, and changing your nutrient intake after YEARS of eating the way you used to, can confuse your system at first. Fatigue can also be a sign that your metabolism is increasing, which is a good thing. Lots of water can significantly reduce fatigue and speed up the adjustment period of a detox. (PS: this was my husband’s detox symptom for almost 5 WEEKS. He was fueling his body with carbs, sugars, processed foods, and tons of caffeine for years... and it ONLY took him about five weeks to detox past that and THRIVE. Worth it!)

Tummy bloating/nausea/irregular bowels

Did you know that your digestive system is holding up to 20 POUNDS of waste right now?? Our bodies have a natural system to release toxins. A healthy body will release that waste 1-3 times per DAY. Most people go through life for years drinking coffee (one of the most acidic drinks on earth) and eating processed foods, and not drinking enough water. When we suddenly infuse our body with premium grade nutrients, prebiotics, probiotics, and active digestive enzymes, our GUT HEALTH is going to begin to change for the better. During this time, we may experience bloating, nausea, and more frequent (or less constant) bowels. After the body adjusts (speed up this process by taking your Thrive every single day, reducing processed foods, reducing carbs/sugars, increase water intake) you will notice more mental clarity, a better immune system, more “satisfying” bowel movements, and more energy. Most illness begins in the gut. A person who’s going from having an unhealthy gut to a healthy gut will experience amazing results with Thrive, as long as they stick with it through the detox process! Everyone is different - some people have these symptoms, some people do not. It depends on how we lived the last several years of our lives. (PS: this was my detox symptom for a good 5-6 days, and after it was over, it was like the light bulbs came on in my brain, and I felt ALIVE again. Amazing!)

Weight Changes

The weight fluctuation at the beginning of your Thrive Experience can be normal and due to reducing inflammation and or water gain/loss. My advice: TOSS THE SCALE and get out a tape measure instead. There is a weird phenomenon called the “Whoosh effect” that our fat cells go through before we lose weight. Google that term -- it’s so strange! But, it can be NORMAL. Drink more water, stick with Thrive every day, reduce carbs and sugars... you will begin to see your body gravitate towards it’s most healthy weight!

Trust your body

You will experience amazing benefits with Thrive, as long as you are taking the three steps as we recommend, stick with it through the detox process, and don’t sabotage the nutrients with coffee, caffeine, sugar, processed foods, high carbs, etc. Everyone is different - some people have these symptoms, some people do not. It depends on how we lived the last several years of our lives. We did not get unhealthy in 2-3 weeks...or even 2-3 months for that matter. Your body is a MIRACLE. It knows what to do with the right nutrition, as long as we do not sabotage the process or cut it short -- give it TIME to do its job and give it nutrition to support a healthy lifestyle.
