“Leaders teach. They motivate. They care. For them, life is never lonely at the top. Leaders make sure that the way to success is always broad enough and straight enough for others to follow in their footsteps” - Mary Kay Ash
I am sitting here reflecting on my past life….before retirement. Yes, I was a teacher and an administrator. I loved my job but as you know that profession is one of job cuts and few pay increases. Many of my fellow teachers needed to pick up a second job in order to make ends meet each month, which meant working on weekends or nights and also working for someone else. During my last couple of years of teaching, I went through a divorce, which put me in the category of needing extra income to support myself and my son. At that time, I had a friend who was working a Mary Kay business and saw that she could work her own hours and as little or as much as she wanted. It was just exactly what I was looking for.
Did you know that nearly 20% of our Mary Kay Independent National Sales Directors are former educators? Because of today’s budget cuts and job loss, many educators have turned to Mary Kay as a supplement to their income or even as a full time career.
Teachers are natural leaders. They have to be since they have their own little followers that they are in charge eight hours a day. Teachers work independently. Their classroom is their own and they are in charge of the events that take place there. They are motive to set goals for themselves, their students and their classroom. Each week they produce a plan to follow and stick with their plan until the goal is accomplished. Teachers mold and encourage future leaders. But most of all their successes come through the ability to help others succeed.
A lot of successful, top Mary Kay directors have come from the educational field. Some have started with a small part time business and it has grown into a full time career, with incomes that well exceed what they were making in the education field.
If you are interested in learning more about this great opportunity, send me an email bshel60@marykay.com or visit my Mary Kay site www.marykay.com/bshel60 I would love to chat with you and share my experiences.
