In business we strive to show our clients, customers and contacts the value of our product or service. Anyone that's been in a sales environment can relate with the motto "Find the need and provide the solution" While this is true, the common factor that is sometimes lost is the power of relationships.
Truth is folks, most any product or service can be found at a lower price, smaller quantity or better deal. That's the beauty of free enterprise, it's the driving force of a competitive marketplace. In fact, if you've ever sat in a weekly or monthly sales meeting, you will hear all the above as the "reason" someone has not reached their goal.
In that same meeting, you will witness the recognition of those that have not only met their goals but in most cases exceeded them. So what is the difference? Why do so many fail to reach the success they desire while others seem to reach it effortlessly? Sure, those at the top know their product, take personal accountability for their growth and take action to always be their best. Yet more importantly they know and understand the power of relationships.
Success is in the relationships we build with others and the value we bring to their lives. Be it business, personal or casual meetings the way we make people feel is far more important than the product or service we provide. Now, there's always going to be a percentage that care only about the financial bottom line and that's 100% okay. It just means your relationship with them is structured a bit differently.
Keep things simple folks, don't over complicate the process. Engage your prospects in conversation don't "sell" your product. Listen to what people have to say, I guarantee you'll find some common ground to build on. Share your stories, level the field by reminding them you're human, not just another "sales person" and always remember...Treat them as you'd like to be treated.

| | | | | You said it well Cheryl. We need to not be so "salezy" We need to hear the other person and build on the relationship not just getting the sale. Back to the top with this one. ;D |
