Why You Need to Use Social Media

Welcome to an age of technology! It seems like every week that there is some new kind of fad that is all the rage, but since the turn of the century, social media has been on the radar of businesses and bloggers alike. It has never been easier or faster to reach someone that may be across the street, across the state, or across the world! Many businesses have turned to social media because that is where they are able to convey their information quickly to potential customers and the people that are familiar with the brand or company can share with their network who more than likely have the same interests as that customer. I could say that 99% of you reading this will probably have some type of social media account whether it be Google+(yes, it counts!), Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or YouTube. Those are just to name a few, though there are many more like EverNote, Pinterest, and Flikr. If you want to convert real leads using social media, you first need to decide if you are going to be serious about using it. I have had plenty of associates that opt-in with a person that the connect with on Facebook and that upline simply disappears and does not come back until the next month when they decide that they need more opt-ins. Leads that you will get from these sites will require constant contact and follow-ups (like all of your leads, really) and if they cannot get in contact with you they will leave for someone that they can. Here are just a few examples about how to use the most popular social media sites effectively for your business: Youtube I was actually surprised when I learned that YouTube was one of the most effective ways to reach people. Well, not really. Video blogs -- vlogs -- have had a tendency to go viral which means that they get hundreds of thousands of views per day. If you have that much traffic to your site, imagine how many leads are converting to sales (given that you have a proper sales strategy)! When you use YouTube, people are then able to see that you are serious about your business since you are taking the time to create your videos. They are also able to see that you are professional, that you speak clearly, explain things well, and seem like a trustworthy person. You are then also able to show people exactly how your product or opportunity works by showing an example of your personal accomplishments and gains. You are also able to answer frequently asked questions by doing a demonstration or how-to video depending on the question. Besides leaving your URL in the description of your own videos, the site will make suggestions on videos that have the same keywords as yours. Watch those videos and leave comments to drive traffic to your channel. In networking, many people work with a "you like mine, I'll like yours" system so get to know these people that share often! Twitter Twitter is a unique social platform in many of the users are hungry for the latest thing, the newest gadget, the best way to make money! Since you can only use a certain number of characters for each update or "tweet", you will have to be original when trying to market your opportunity. (Remember, there are hundreds of others that are doing the same thing!) Again, reiterated again and again, people want to know that it is an actual person on the other end of the computer and not a bot, so you will want to put a lot of your personality into your Twitter account as well as tweets. Use your real name, age, and location. If you want to use your company name or brand instead, go right ahead, but then I would suggest making sure that your name is somewhere on the website that you are linking your customers to. Follow and be followed by people that support your interest or people that you find helpful and influential. When you are following and being followed by the right people, you will build a strong and helpful network. Seek out people that tweet often and try to befriend these people. If you have the similar interests, you may be as useful to them as they are to you. Facebook I have personally found Facebook to be the most useful when marketing your opportunity. When creating your Facebook, your profile should be REAL. You want to post real pictures of yourself as well as fill in the work that you do as well as the school you attended. People are more interested in someone that they can relate to rather than a gray silhouette with no face. You will also want to make Fan page, where people can subscribe to the product or opportunity that you are selling. When you keep personal and business separate, this will keep Facebook from flagging your profile as unreal and either suspending it or removing it all together. Be actively aware of your target customer and post often. No, this does not mean to spam your opportunity, because then people with just mark it as spam and Facebook will then suspend your account. You want to post relevant updates about your business (or about yourself) from your business page so you are constantly seen on feeds and recognized by search engines. Try to use keywords that describe your business to be found easily by customers that may opt in. Promote your Facebook in your opportunity page as well as other sites that you may be part of. When your current customers like your page, it will also show on their feed which will allow their friends to be linked back to you! Word of mouth is still explosive, even on the internet so be aware! That is all that I have for this post. I hope that you found it helpful and like, comment, and share!
