Walking through the trails it seemed like we had gone twenty miles only to realize from the signs it was a mile and a half. Covered with sweat running down my neck all I could hear was the sound of my six year old daughter crying out "carry me daddy!" my legs were already hurting as I reached down and put her on my shoulders. As we continued on through to the end of the trail I was starting to tire myself and decided to sit for a moment.
As I put Hailee down she sat down next to me and we started to talk about ice cream. After a few minutes we got up and I put Hailee upon my shoulders again and started heading toward the shopping center. The shopping center was only a half mile up from the trails and we could already taste the ice cream. Hailee began to sing and soon we were near the intersection.
While I was walking I saw a man sitting on a bucket with a sign that said homeless please help. My daughter asked daddy what is he doing sitting there? You could tell he had been there for a few days as his shirt was dirty and torn. His pants seemed to be worn too as he stood up the closer we got to him you could see the knees torn out and there were holes in his back pockets. His hair was stringy and oily looking and the beard he was growing had touches of grey and was pretty long. His face was kind of weathered and he had a limp as he tried to walk.

As I approached him he asked sir could you spare some change? I hesitated for a moment and then asked him some questions. After we talked I reached in my pocket and gave him a few dollars. After leaving him my daughter asked why did I give that man some money. I explained to her that he was out of work and out of luck and homeless and that we needed to help him.
Later that night after we got back from eating ice cream, a thought kept going through my mind. What if that was me there instead of him. How would my family make it? That is why I am with the company I am with now. No worries and no bills. Get on board today and be stress free while you get paid a residual income for the rest of your life!

 | | Kids give you perspective - they "ground" you. We all are homeless in some respect. Thanks for very good post. |
| | | | | Good blog. Thanks for putting a reason for securing the future with income from past efforts |
| | | | | Nice! Good blog and story. Thank you, it makes me think of my girls. |
| | | | | It's hard to walk past the homeless. I have been through it myself although I never found myself living on the streets because I refused to and I pushed on to make my life better. I do help out when I can but the city I lived in there were 20 or more sitting on the street. Can't give all of your money away. In my town there was a lot of scams that people would ask you for money to feed their family and you watch them walk into the liquor store instead. |
| | | | | Thanks for sharing, Makes you stop and think for a bit, This one I'll send to facebook |
| | | | | Very touching story... Thanks Jonhnny for sharing. We are blessed with what we have. So, don't forget to help others if you can. |
| | | | | Nice blogpost thanks for sharing |
| | | | | Very nice...a compassionate story. I like that. Thanks for sharing. |
| | | | | Great story Johnny. It is hard not to have compassion for those less fortunate. I think about myself - I made a few wrong turns in my life, but somehow I worked through them. Having a home based business is refreshing and worth every ounze of blood, sweat, and tear we put into it. It takes a lot of perserverance to struggle through the "NO's", but every now and then we find the big YES and push on - thanks for sharing. You are a great dad! |
| | | | | Great life lesson here teaching your daughter. You are right about what would we do as a family. 90% of American families would struggle and fall apart in that same situation. That's why we are here and that is to make a better life for our families and have something more to fall back on in tough times. |
| | | | | Thanks for sharing a personal story Johnny, it's a hard decision sometimes are we helping or contributing. TB&L my friend |
