Any fool can find God in a sunset

Life is hard. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something. It's easy to find God when things are good, the skies are beautiful, and life seems carefree. It's when life gets difficult that it takes great faith to find God.

In scripture we often find stories of people struggling with their faith. They're facing great trials and it's in their trials that they often ask God why has He abandoned them. Even Christ on the cross cried out to God asking that very same question.

The answer is always the same.

God is with us, especially in the tough times.

When the apostles were afraid in the boat, Jesus calmed the waters and told them to not be afraid. In fact, "don't be afraid" is one of the most common commands in all of scripture. It's fear that led Saul to take more from the conquered than God had told him to. It's fear that let the Hebrews to hoard manna in the desert, despite God telling them not to.

Fear of not having enough. Fear of not being loved. Fear of being alone. These things can lead anyone to take actions they normally wouldn't take...to abandon their faith and try to rely on their OWN selves for survival.

Have faith. It can't rain all the time.

If you're struggling right now, know that I'm right there with you. It's a stormy season in my life as well...family issues, money issues, job issues...it seems that they're all piling up with no relief in sight. But I still know that the storms won't last forever...and that the skies will clear. No rain, no rainbow...right?

Be encouraged, my friends.

The sun will come out again.
