While it may be most practical now to expect less in terms of how your team members perform, you should ask for more.
Make them stretch. Up the ante. Ask more of your team.
Why?
The most obvious answer is that, in all likelihood, there simply is more now that needs to be done. Second, in a destabilized work environment, team members usually do some introspection. They examine their individual approach to the job, evaluate their careers, and are more open to changing their work habits. So grab the opportunity and push them to try harder and to work smarter.
Actually, it is better for their mental health and for team morale if they are extremely busy and do not have time on their hands to spend worrying about the future or romanticizing the past.
The performance standards you set and the objectives you put before your people should be challenging, but not unrealistic. Strive to engineer success experiences for your team. Require performance improvements, but do not shoot for goals that are likely to be an exercise in frustration and failure.
