In times like these, you need to push your team (and yourself) to demonstrate more initiative and resourcefulness.
Transition and change often make team members feel insecure and uncertain. They become less willing to make decisions or take risks. You will see team members lose their nerve.
Team members and leaders alike are prone to move into holding patterns. They take a play-it-safe stance. Everybody seems to feel more comfortable with omission, rather than commission. You may note that your team members are more willing to do nothing rather than risk doing something.
Your team members will be hesitant to embrace new business roles or tackle new assignments if they are uncertain regarding their own ability to make the changes. And sometimes team members become overly cautious and conservative because they lack a great understanding of the standards by which their performance will be judged.
Get the message across to everyone that you will be tolerant of mistakes, but intolerant of inertia. To put it differently, let your team members know that you do not expect perfection, but you will require everyone to be independent-thinking, decisive, and action-oriented.
