Confession: I trust in the Lord with all my heart, and I consistently make wise decisions.
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct by paths." ~Proverbs 3:5-6
Have you made decisions that you later regretted? That is called learning a lesson the hard way. Some people say things like, "I need to learn from my own mistakes." It is a wise person who can seek the Lord and avoid mistakes in life. Second Peter 1:10 says, "Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." This scripture lets us know that the heart of God is that we never fall. If that were not the case, then why would He make such a statement? Do people fall? Do they have to? No, they do not. Should they want to make their own mistakes (fall) so they can learn from them? No, of course not.
If we are going to minimize the number of serious mistakes in our lives, we must trust in the Lord with all our hearts and look to Him to direct our paths. It is very possible to consistently make wise decisions, but we must discipline ourselves to slow down long enough to seek God's will for whatever it is we are considering. So how do we know what God is saying to us when we are seeking His will? We should follow peace. God will give us a peace about taking that next step. If we do not have peace, then we should stand still and wait on the Lord.
The enemy loves it when fear drives us to get in a hurry to make a move, because that is his opportunity to trip us up. Have you ever noticed that most people who cause car wrecks are in a hurry to get somewhere? When we are in a hurry, our judgment is impaired and we fail to make good decisions. But when we drive patiently, we are less likely to cause an accident. We are relaxed and more aware of what other drivers are doing. Just the same, we can avoid terrible mistakes when we seek the face of God before making a decision. Spend this week in the presence of God. Seek His face and His desires. Delight yourself in Him and not only will He guide your steps (Proverbs 3:6), but He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).
Do you find it hard to let go and trust God because of a need to be in control?

| | | | | Thanks for the inspiration that you give. Fear can hold many back and haste can trip us up. So it takes a balance to be directed when to make the actions we take pay off in good results. We are ultimately dependent upon God's guidance and grace. So in His Loving care We will succeed. |
