Is It Possible _ To Have Faith and Unbelief Simultaneously? (Part 2 of 2)

Keeping God #1 in Your Business (PR_Vol_73)

Mark 11:23 (KJV)
23) “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith”.

Welcome to (Part 2) of this series. If you have not read (Part 1), I would strongly suggest that you do so, to prevent any distortion and to put this section in context. In (Part 1) we established that it is indeed possible to have faith and unbelief simultaneously and this is why sometimes our faith is short circuited and we do not receive.

In this segment I will cite a couple more scriptures in support of this phenomenon, discuss three major types of unbelief, their nature and how to dispel them; so that we can become better practitioners of our faith and thereby obtain those promises of God, that have eluded us due to our unrecognized and unaddressed unbelief.

In (Matthew 17:20) Jesus explained to His Disciples that they were unable to cast out the demons from the young boy because of their unbelief. Can you believe that? Jesus’ disciples had unbelief. We know that they had faith because they had been given the power to cast out demons (Matthew 10:1). And they had exercised this faith effectively.

In (Mark 5:36) on the way to heal Jairus’ daughter, a messenger came to report that the little girl had died; so Jesus admonished Jairus saying, “Be not afraid ONLY believe”. This indicates to us that fear can always induce doubt and unbelief that would negate the working of faith. We can always identify the presence of unbelief when there is fear doubt, worry and anxiety.

The three major types of faith derailing unbelief and their causes are as follows.
1. Ignorance: (1 Timothy 1:13) this is unbelief that arises because the individual just does not know the power or the promise of God relating to the specific issue at hand. The cure for this is a revelation of the TRUTH, (The specific promise). And if the TRUTH received and believed, the unbelief will disappear.

2. Disbelief: This is unbelief that comes as a result of erroneous teaching often from the pulpit. The individual has believed a lie. Such as; the erroneous belief that God sometimes allow a person to remain sick because He’s teaching them a lesson. As a result, the individual’s faith for healing is derailed. This is the toughest type to dispel. In this case, the individual has to renew their mind with the word of God and choose to believe the word of God over man’s tradition, man-made religion and dogma.

3. Natural Unbelief: This is the type that comes as a result of believing our senses, over the word of God. God says you’re healed, but because you still feel pain, you lose heart; believing what you see, hear, feel, touch and perceive. This is the problem that the disciples had in (Mark 9:14-29). The disciples saw the boy being thrown around and foaming at the mouth and it induced unbelief in them. Jesus let them know that this type of unbelief cannot be driven out except by praying and fasting (Verse 29).

What we must do is to follow the example of Abraham. (Romans 4:19) :… he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: Abraham chose not to consider, meditate on, think upon, talk about nor bear in mind, that which was contrary to God’s promise. He chose ONLY to believe the promise. He understood (2 Corinthians 4:18) and so must we. (“…things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.)
