Effective Communication – Prayers That Avail Much

Keeping God #1 in Your Business (PR_Vol_96)

1Peter 3:12
12) “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

Welcome back to (Part-3) of this series, and if you have not studied (Parts-1&2), I would highly recommend that you do so, in order to get a better understanding of the subject at hand. In this segment, we will consider some more scriptures and types of prayers..

1. What is Prayer?
2. What is Prayer of Agreement?
3. What is Prayer of Petition?
4. What is Prayer of Intercession?
5. What is Prayer of Praise and Worship?

4. What is Prayer of Intercession?
This is praying to God for the needs of others.
Romans. 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27) And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God”. - Hence, the best way, not the only way; but the best way to pray accurately for oneself and to intercede for the needs of another, is to pray in the spirit i.e. in tongues.

In this regards, Apostle Paul says the following.
1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
1 Corinthians 14:14 "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, …..”

5. What is Prayer of Praise and Worship?
This is prayer that leads to praise.
Philippians 4:6 says don't be worried or anxious about anything. Be anxious for nothing, but in every-thing, everything. That means in your financial things, in your physical things, in your relational things, in everything in life. In everything there are three things that you must do: pray, supplicate, and offer thanksgiving to God for delivering you out of the situation
Acts. 16:25-26 “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.  26) And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed”.

Additional Scriptures to study on the topic of prayer
Proverbs 15:8,29 15) ”The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. 29) “The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.”
Jeremiah 33.3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not”.
John 14:13-14 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. ”

Acts 2:42 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in
breaking of bread, and in prayers”.
Romans 12:12 “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
Colossians 4:2 “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;”
Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” (NIV)
