Driven Vs Directed! (Part-1)

Keeping God #1 in Your Business (PR_Vol_114)

Are you Driven OR Are you Directed?

Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP)
5) Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6) In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Welcome to (Part 1) of this two-part series. In this segment we will establish the difference between being DRIVEN versus being DIRECTED.

The systems and methods of operation in our secular world tend to devote much credit to self actualization (Being a self-made man/woman) through personal skills, experience, “the gospel” of positive mental attitude, personal development gurus, personal bravado, grit and persistence. All of this in contrast to the so called lazy or unmotivated person who hasn’t had the fortune to make the mark yet.

While I am not writing to diminish or denigrate these qualities, I would like to point out that they mostly glorify the human flesh and they ascribe little or no Glory to God and the promises of the FINISHED WORKS of Jesus Christ and the inherent blessings.

These flesh DRIVEN values and methods of attainment that can get you to the top will also tend to bring you down into a feeling of personal character deficiency, condemnation, guilt, exasperation, self loathing, unworthiness and depression if after doing all that you know to do, nothing seems to be working; or you got to the top and somehow or the other, you found yourself on the bottom again. This is because you have become your own God and you have unwittingly edged God out.

When you are driven by needs and fears, such as what to eat, drink, wear, drive, housing for yourself, your family, including ambition, the desires for accolades and position, it will almost always lead to back    breaking toil and stress; working ungodly hours. Consider the following scriptures which will lead you to being DIRECTED into success by the Grace of God, instead of being DRIVEN for Success.

Matthew 6:25-33 (AMP) ... 25) “Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?  ----- 33) But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all, His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.” [They will be added top you is what other translations tell us.]

Proverbs 10:22 (AMP) ... 22) The blessing of the Lord—it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].

Matthew 11:28 (AMP) ... 28) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

Daniel 11:32 (KJV)  32) ".... but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits."

My friend, if you were inspired by (Part 1) of this message you won’t want to miss the conclusion.  In (Part  2), we will conclude this message by covering how to remain perpetually directed by the (Holy Spirit in all of your endeavors. Please come back and stay tuned in. Thank you for your time.
