Potent or Impotent?

Keeping God #1 in Your Business (PR_Vol_137)
Are Your Prayers Potent or Impotent?

Isaiah 43:25-26 (NKJV)
25) “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins. 26) Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted. .”

Beloved, are your prayers laced with doubt and unbelief or are they laced with faith? Are they full of incoherent powerless words or are they full of the promises of God in His words? In the scripture above, God tells us to put Him in remembrance of His words/promises. Has he forgotten them? No not at all. He wants to know that we know what they are, and more importantly, because faith comes by hearing His word, He knows that when we know, speak and hear His words, it will build our faith to RECEIVE.

Do you remember as a kid, when you would always remind your parents of their promises to do this or that for you, or to take you somewhere? Well it pleases God to see us come to Him as kids, so knows that we are paying attention to His promises and counting on Him to keep them.

For your prayers to be potent and laced with faith, they must be laced with the promises/the word of God. In order for your prayers to be laced with the promises/the word of God, you must abide in Him, and His promises/words must abide in you; so that you can declare and remind Him of them. (John 15:7) KJV. "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you".

My friend, in light of this truth, we should always locate God’s promises that address our specific situation in His word, and declare it to Him in obedience when we pray. It becomes the foundation upon which we stand and the catalyst of our faith to endure, persevere and receive. For one thing if you are always just praying your own empty words, these are easy for the devil to obliterate and inject unbelief into your heart; so that you do not receive, get frustrated and lose hope.

Example of a potent word based prayer for finances,…

Heavenly Father, I have chosen Jesus as the Lord of my life and I seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, believing that the material things I need will be supplied. I choose for my character and moral disposition to be free from the love of money, greed, lust and craving for earthly possessions.

I am not satisfied but I am content with my present circumstances and with what I have, being confident because You have promised that You will not in any way fail me, nor leave me without support. I am confident in Your faithfulness, that You will never leave me, nor forsake me, nor leave me helpless. I take comfort and am encouraged; I boldly say, 'The Lord is my helper, I will not be seized with alarm, I will not fear, or dread or be terrified.' I believe, Father, that You wish above all things that I prosper and be in health even as my soul prospers.

I will meditate in Your Word day and night, not letting it depart from my mouth, keeping it in the midst of my heart, observing to do all that is written therein. I believe that therefore I am making my way prosperous and having good success.

You have promised that as a doer of the Word I will be blessed in all of my deeds. I am assured that You will withhold no good thing from me as I walk uprightly. The uncompromising are never forsaken. I make it my ambition to live quietly and peacefully, to mind my own affairs, to work with my hands so that I may bear myself correctly and honorably and command the respect of the outside world, being self supporting, dependent on no one and having need of nothing. Knowing through Your Word, Father, that You are the Lord my God who teaches me to profit and who leads me by the way I should go, I will put Your principles to work in my life regarding business and employment.

I choose to apply myself to good deeds to honest labor and honorable employment, so that 1 may be able to meet necessary demands whenever the occasion may require and that I may not live an idle, uncultivated, unfruitful life, in Jesus' Name. I labor so that I may walk honestly toward those who are without. As I give, it is given unto me again; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will men give into my bosom. I do not sow sparingly nor grudgingly, but rather, I sow generously and cheerfully, blessing others. Therefore, I can expect to reap generously and with blessings. Amen.
