Keeping God #1 in Your Business (PR_Vol_139)

What is Your Perspective on Living by Grace (Gracefully)?

Galatians 2:16 (NKJV)
16) “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.”

Welcome to (Part 2) of this series. I hope you have availed yourself to (Part 1) and If not, I would suggest that you do so, as it would help you to put (Part 2) in the proper context. In (Part 1), we established that living lawfully, i.e. by the law (The Mosaic Laws, The Old covenant) is absolutely NOT what God intends nor intended for the Christian. We will now continue to explore and answer the question; then how do I live and please God?

God made the old covenant obsolete as a way of living for Christians.
When God gave the new covenant, “The covenant of Grace”, In (Hebrews 8:6-13) amongst other things, God gave us an insight into the magnitude of His grace by saying the following.

(Hebrews 8:12, 13)  “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13) In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. -
This is repeated in
(Romans 4:6-8) 6) just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:7) “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered; 8) Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.” and
(Isaiah 43:25) “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”

My friend, this magnitude of grace is what many Christians find difficult to assimilate, because they are so marinated in the gospel of (Do Good Get Good, - Do Bad Get Bad) . They think how can God NOT count your sins against you?

Beloved, Just as God told Jeremiah, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb…” (Jeremiah 1:5)  Likewise, God knew you. He knew ALL the sins you would commit throughout your lifetime and He punished Jesus for ALL them even before you were born. Wouldn’t you agree that it would be unjust for God to punish you again because sins for which He already punished Jesus?

Most Christians try to do the right thing. They don’t realize that focusing on doing the right thing puts you back in the slavery of the Law and the 10 commandments; which were given only to amplify sinfulness, to bring man to the end of his self efforts and lead him to Jesus. (Romans 5:20)

As a born-again child of God, your focus must be on “Believing Right” and not “Doing Right” people focus on doing right but they keep on doing wrong. When you FOCUS on doing right and living lawfully, you become Sin Conscious rather than Grace Conscious. This is because you become Law conscious trying to avoid sinning. You never did anything to become righteous other than to believe and confess Jesus as Lord. Jesus did it ALL.  He took all your BAD and GAVE you ALL His GOOD; Righteousness.

Stop focusing on doing right behavior by the Law; to become righteous. Focus on “the good things that are in you in Christ Jesus" (Philemon 1:6) in order to manifest those things. Focus on the fact that you already have eternal righteousness, sanctification, consecration, holiness and redemption.  See (1 Corinthians 1:30) Amp. Stop trying to attain what you already have by grace; by trying to do good - self effort.

My friend, I know that this has been a deep subject, it is a subject that bewilders many Christians, and there is still more to come. I commend you for investing your time in the word and I encourage you to please come back for the conclusion of this series in
(Part 3). Lets conclude why we should live “unlawfully”.
