Keeping God #1 in Your Business (PR_Vol_142)

Renew My Mind, What’s that and how do I Do It?

(Romans 12:1-2) (AMP)
"I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. 2) Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]".
Beloved, its one thing to read and understand a scripture verse but, it’s something else to know (1) exactly what it means, (2) to whom it is addressed and (3) how to implement the scripture so that it becomes (Rhema) the living word and you manifest the intended blessings of that scripture in your life.

Let’s examine these three issues in light of the above cited scripture.

1. Exactly what does (Romans 12:1-2) mean to you? - This is the easiest part because, you have so many translations of the bible to refer to, you have the concordance to check out the Hebrew and Greek meanings of words and in this particular scripture, I trust that you will agree that the Amplified version cited above needs no further interpretation. It is clear.

2. To whom this scripture addressed? – This scripture is addressed to everyone who professes their belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This sounds simple enough however, the reason that Apostle Paul saw a need to address this issue was because many of these Christians; just like the Galatians and many Christians of today, were confused as to whether they were to conform to God’s ideals according to the Old Covenant of the Mosaic Laws of “Do good get good – Do bad get bad” or according to the one and only gospel; the New testament gospel of Grace (Galatians 1:6-8). There is a monumental and consequential difference between the two. Do you know the difference?

Many preachers today are still preaching a deadly mixture of the two covenants. They imply that you get saved by grace and not of works (Ephesians 2:8), and then they teach and imply that you have to stay saved or be pleasing to God and attain holy living by conforming to, and being guided by the 10 commandments and the Old covenant laws of “Do good get good – Do bad get bad” which have been made obsolete to Christians, according to Apostle Paul. See (Hebrews 8:13) Amplified version.  Jesus refers to this type of works and practice as being neither Hot nor Cold and the consequence is severe. (Revelations 3:15-16)

My friend  to close this section, I would like you to consider how severely Apostle Paul rebuked the Galatian Christians and how he utterly condemned this practice of mixing the covenants as they were doing. (Saved by Grace yet erroneously living by the Law).

(Galatians 3:1-5) AMP. 1) “O you poor and silly and thoughtless and unreflecting and senseless Galatians! Who has fascinated or bewitched or cast a spell over you, unto whom—right before your very eyes—Jesus Christ (the Messiah) was openly and graphically set forth and portrayed as crucified? 2) Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the [Holy] Spirit as the result of obeying the Law and doing its works, or was it by hearing [the message of the Gospel] and believing [it]? [Was it from observing a law of rituals or from a message of faith?] 3) Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh? 4) Have you suffered so many things and experienced so much all for nothing (to no purpose)—if it really is to no purpose and in vain? 5) Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] what the Law demands, or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on the message that you heard”?

Need I say any more on mixing the covenants? Click Here if you would like to study further on the differences between the Old and the New Covenants.

In (Part 2) of this two-part series  I will cover how to renew your mind and operate in that renewal so that the word becomes (Rhema); the living word, so that you can actually manifest the intended blessings of God’s scriptures in your life. Please stay tuned in and come back for (Part 2) Thank you for your time, may God multiply it back to you.
