Keeping God #1 in Your Business (PR_Vol_174)

Consider The Lilies Of The Field

Matthew 6:28–29
So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

You may think that you must work very hard to provide for yourself and get ahead in life. But God wants you to consider the lilies of the field—they do nothing. They toil not, spin not and struggle not. Yet, they grow and are clothed by God while simply resting and basking in the sunshine of God’s love! And when God clothes them, they look even more glorious than King Solomon, the richest king who ever lived.

Like the lilies of the field, God wants you to let Him take care of providing for your material needs, instead of you striving to do it yourself. When you let go and let Him, you will see Him bless you supernaturally, abundantly and generously!

It is true that God said to Adam in (Genesis 3:19) "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground..." However you must realize that we were redeemed from that curse when Jesus sweat blood in the garden of Gethsemane. I understand that (2 Thessalonians 3:10) says that “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” – The question is, are you stressing and specifically, what has God told you to do?

Beloved, this is often very difficult for people to understand; especially in a world that is full of supposedly self-made men and women. A world where people beat their chest in pride; saying "No pain No gain". A world that says. “God helps those who help themselves”.
Mind you, you won't find such scripture verse in the bible. God didn't say that, Benjamin Franklin said it. What you will find in the bible are many verses such as “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat”. (Isaiah 25:4)

Please don't take this as advocating inactivity. Rather, understand that "Resting in The Finished works of Jesus Christ" means that the activities that you perform should only be those instructed by God. For instance, in (2 Chronicles 20:1-22), the children of Israel under king Jehoshaphat, were facing war against an overwhelming army and they understood that they would not prevail by their own efforts. They consulted God and God told them through the Prophet to "Stand still and see the deliverance of the Lord". Did they all retire to their hammocks? Of course not! The Prophet told them to confront the enemy with praise singers. Huh!  - What military General would have given this prescription as a tactic for war?

Do you remember, in (Joshua 6:1-20); when God instructed Joshua that the children of Israel should march around the walls of Jericho seven times, and on the seventh lap they should collectively give a loud shout and blow the trumpet? As you are well aware, the plan did work. Now what military General in this day and age would prescribe such tactic to win a war? So, while we are talking about "Resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ", not stressing, not solely relying on your wonderful skills, prowess, intelligence and abilities; Do you know precisely what God is telling you, by the Holy Spirit, to do about your specific situations? - If not, then you must Ask, Seek, Knock, Listen, Obey and Rest.

My friend, God can do for you what He has done for others. Just believe that if God clothes the lilies and grass of the field, which are here today and gone tomorrow, how much more will He clothe you, His eternal and precious child, with beauty and favor! All He asks is that you cease from your striving, allow Him to take over and just flow with Him!
