I apologize profusely for even lightly bringing up politics here but I have something to say. A point to make that I just can't make otherwise. I think there's something that we all need to do and that is to individually step back and take a good look at something. That something is this system that we use. Democracy. Don't get me wrong. It appears to be about the best we can do as a people. But never the less we need to take stock of what and where this relentless pursuit of money has brought us to.
It has occurred to me that we all have the same goal here at IBO and that is to promote ourselves and/or a product. The process of doing that is often looked at as 'climbing the ladder' of success. There's often one thing that many people forget about climbing that ladder and that is that once you've reached the top, that's when the real battle begins. Reaching the top can be long and hard but once there, it becomes even harder to stay there.
This may not be exactly the same train of thought but, work with me. In this capitalist society, the top almost has to include money. Now, at what point does this money start to corrupt, almost it seems by its very nature, the very principles and goals that you think you're aspiring to. MONEY IN POLITICS. SUPER-PACTS. NON-DISCLOSAL OF WHO IS DONATING. WHEN YOU HAVE TO HIDE WHERE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM, DOESN'T THAT TELL YOU SOMETHING?
Capitalism. Fairness. Have they ever been uttered in the same sentence?

 | | The Good Book says "The love of money is the root of all evil". Perhaps the issue is not about having money but rather about asking the fundamental question "What is money? How does it happen to be?" When I look at a bill I read "Federal Reserve Note". But then, what is a note? What is the Federal Reserve Bank? Samuel, you have raised very interesting and thought provacative issues. Again, the Good Book say "Seek the truth , and the truth shall make you free." Great thoughts. |

| | |  | | Samuel, I respectfully disagree with you. Money doesn't corrupt. If we want to attract it into our life, holding that belief will work against us. Like so many things in life, money can be used for good or evil. It is unfortunate that misuse of power and money makes for a sensational "newsworthy" story. Makes it difficult to bring our beliefs into alignment with our desires. |
| | |  | | I read your post. I like your premise of money corrupting. What do we do to change it. I have worked my whole life 1st to survive, as a young man, now, for what it helps others do ( succeed ).
