Glass Half Full?
Have you ever noticed that most people can talk all day about problems but can only last a minute or two on possibilities? The drama of everyday life can be a great diversion from the real task at hand: to experience your life as you wish it to be.
And yet, we’ve all met those few individuals who seem like they are “shot out of a cannon.” They are consistently positive, upbeat, life a?rming, and speak in terms of possibilities. Their positive energy a?ects any room they enter. They see the world as a glass half full. They are a pleasure to be around, full of contagious magnetism.
GO DEEPER:
Fill a glass half full of water and put it in a location where you will see it. This could be in your o?ce, on your dresser, in the bathroom or any other place you will see it. When you look at it, be aware of your thoughts. Is the glass half full or half empty?
Positive, upbeat, life a?rming individuals who speak in terms of possibilities are di?erent. They are rare. They are living their lives to a full extent.
Yet, we have all had moments where we felt and expressed ourselves this way. And, in those moments it feels like life is a dream: easy, fun and ecstatic. Maybe you experienced this as a child, or when you had your ?rst child, or during some other magni?cent experience in your life.
There is a choice between two very di?erent ways to live. One is closed o? from the very freedom that makes life such an incredible experience. In dwelling on the negative drama that is a part of being human, most people relinquish their personal power to act and choose. Instead, they experience depression, loneliness, and a life of dreariness and pain. They get a life that doesn’t work as well as they would like it to.
Conversely, the other o?ers freedom, happiness, joy, abundance, health and all of the rewards of life that you seek. And, as an added bonus, some wonderful surprises along the way! This way of thinking and acting involves entering into a new game, only this time with the new skills and focus.
There are people who specialize in what is wrong, while others specialize in what is possible. The choice continues to be yours.
Logically, it seems like an easy choice. No one really, consciously, chooses unhap-piness. So where do we go astray? And where do we start?
We start by thinking in possibilities.
Attitudes, which are thoughts, feelings and actions, are an invisible creative force that is constantly at work in your life. The right attitude and focus creates what is similar in the physical universe to a magnetic force.
This has been called the Law of Attraction by many, although it has been only partially understood as recently as the past few years. In short, a positive and proactive attitude, when followed through with consistent choices and pro-active action, will attract two things: more consistent positive results, and the adversity commonly associated with those desires.
The latter, lesser known of this universal balance deserves to be stated a second time: the adversity commonly associated with those desires. These occur when you’ve made the decision to create these new experiences in your life. It then becomes your task to look for, recognize, and ultimately overcome any adversity that is also attracted as a result of this desire.
So, when adversity comes (and it will when you are consistent and diligent in creating something desirable in your life) you’re prepared. It actually is a confirmation that you are attracting that which you desire into your life.
All entrepreneurs encounter this principle as they create their results.
It is in this way that you can reliably set yourself on the path of achieving your greatest dreams and desires. The hard work really comes in the beginning, as you are retraining yourself to think in possibilities. Because, as we’ve said before, as your thinking patterns and habits change, so will your life.
