Have you lost your Dreams?
When we were kids the world was out there to explore and anything was possible. Imagination was out greatest asset and time was available in abundance. As we start to grow up reality hits hard and we have responsibilities, bills to pay, people who count on us, jobs to go to and so many of our childhood dreams get put on the shelf to gather dust.
Where have your dreams gone?
Why do our dreams need to get shelved?
Why can’t we keep dreaming like when we were kids but also be happy in our adult lives?
Well I would like to tell you do not need to stop dreaming and the biggest thing we need to do is turn any dream into a goal and these goals into reality.
What is the difference between dreams and goals? Well basically goals are written down and dreams are in our minds. It is not to say that dreams cannot become reality but I have found the second that you write them down, the second you commit to making them real, you have moved so much closer to being the person you want and achieving the things you desire.
Spend the time today to write all your dreams down, not just what they are but how you are going to achieve them. Be very specific in what you want and the time frame you plan on achieving them in. Also think about what you are willing to do to make it happen. Break down the goals into smaller achievable tasks, this will help not only keep you heading in the right direction but also help to keep you positive.
Next visualise yourself as these dreams become reality. See your future self with the things you desire and the people around you who have helped make it a reality. Some of these people may be the people around you now or they may not be any of the people who are around you.
Read your goal list and visualise them at least daily. I love gadgets and have an application on my phone that brings up my list of goals each morning so I can read them. You may be someone who has a notice board and can be reminded both using words and pictures. You could just write them down on a small card and keep them in your purse or wallet. What ever way works for you, make sure you have your goals with you and reinforce at every opportunity.
Keep track of what you are going and you will be amazed who things will start to come together.
Don’t let people steal your dreams. You will always have people in your life who do not see your vision but remember it is your vision not theirs and you do not need to justify your dreams to anyone but you. Don’t get caught up with these negative people, surround yourself with positive like minded people and mastermind with these people.
Always be happy to re-evaluate. Sometimes you will need to give yourself more time or more resources or adjust the outcome slightly. It does not mean that your dreams are not achievable but just need some correction.
Always be looking to add to your list of goals and dreams. Your list of goals and dreams is a dynamic list that you should always be looking to add to, as you achieve your dreams or your change direction in your life.
Dream big. Don’t be afraid to dream big to take risks and strive to be the best you can be.
