Adjusting Your Telescope!
It’s been noted that a person can drive from one destination to another at night while only being able to see several hundred yards in front of them by headlight. Think of that! One can navigate completely across the country while only seeing a very small portion of the road in front of them.
GO DEEPER:
Purchase a small telescope and add it to your materials as a symbol of your vision. Use it as a reminder that wherever you aim your telescope shows the destination possible for your journey.
What is important is knowing your destination, and knowing how to keep yourself on course at this particular moment.
The task is to stay focused on your goals, dreams, desires and accomplishments, and handle the details of your life in small, immediate steps.
When people take their eyes o? their goal, they begin to see obstacles. They try to ?gure out how to make what they want happen immediately, which ultimately hinders them from making the decisions that will bring this about.
It isn’t important to know how you’re going to get to your ?nal destination, only where that is.
Then turn on those headlights (your singular focus) and start driving (your thoughts, beliefs, choices and actions) in the direction (your Compass Heading) of your destination (your Future Self) guided by your North Star.
Taking the High Road
Imagine you are in an airplane, cruising 30,000 feet above the ground. Even though you are moving at a very fast speed, it feels as if you are slowly and leisurely cruising along. The landscape seems to crawl below you.
But when you get closer to the land, as when you pass through clouds or on takeo? and landing, your actual speed becomes more pronounced. You can even become surprised at how fast you are actually going, and how fast the ground approaches or recedes from you.
At times it can seem that you are experiencing slow progress, cruising without any perceptible progress. Pay close attention, however, to when you “approach land” in the form of encounters with others or situations. It is in these moments that you can see the true speed of your progress.
Feeling a di?erence in these situations is evidence that you are moving, ?ying, making progress.
Others may sense it as well, and react in many di?erent ways. It is in these moments that your ability will keep you safely and securely on course.
