My message as we start the month of May is about the VISION of our GROCERY TRAIN business. Goals are your destination; mission is your purpose; and your plan is the map to get you there... but vision is your inspiration... the fuel that drives you! If you want to lead you need vision... remember "without vision the people perish". I want to encourage Grocery Train associates to look beyond just 'making money'. You have to really put attention on how you can HELP others, how you can be a force for good in the world... to improve lives and to change negative conditions. As Executive Director of Feed the Hungry, Stefan Radelich said: "Our relationship with Grocery Train is about more than just making money, it's about doing the right thing!"
I know this might come across as perhaps too high handed and altruistic to some who may want to just make an extra $500 to cover bills... but the truth is, this will give you more possibilities to DO just that... and so much more! So bear with me. The sad truth is, America is sick, the people, the environment and the economy, due to a system of "profit over people". On a larger scale, in an effort to do good, unfortunately America exported chemical farming methods and nutrient deficient processed food systems all around the globe, leading to a worldwide epidemic of diabetes and other degenerative diseases. As an example McDonalds now has 31,000 locations in 119 countries, serving 58 million customers per day... and the "green revolution", contradicting its fundamental objective of minimizing the world food problem, has actually led to more starvation and the further impoverishment of small-scale farmers and the environmental deterioration of developing nations.
As is stated in the following movie clip, "We need a different vision for the future... people are changing things... a movement is growing. There is a new vision for the future... it's a decision you and I can make right now that will change the world"
Watch this "FRESH" movie trailer... just 2:54 minutes
www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwR44T69_Is (I recommend viewing the entire movie, available online.) Our CEO Rodney Goins has that vision! Changing all of this starts with education, with buying local, with supporting family farmers (as Eden does), and supporting organic sustainable farming... THIS IS the mission of Grocery Train... and, if our reach is far enough and successful enough, we WILL change the health of people... and the health of the environment. These things are possible but we need to keep them at the forefront of our mind while doing the activities of our day to day business.
I promise you that if you have a strong vision and purpose, you will have FAR more influence on the people you approach.
As Marc Ketchel said at the launch "this is not a business, this is a passion!" and I agree 100%!! A vision statement
is your picture of your company in the future... it's your inspiration, the framework for all your strategic planning... it's an articulation of your dreams and hopes for your business. It reminds you of what you are trying to build. MY VISION FOR Grocery Train: I see Grocery Train as a $billion company and #1 in home grocery delivery in the organic whole food market. I see Grocery Lines trucks in neighborhoods become as common as UPS and FedX. I see GT 'raise the bar' in education about whole foods and sustainable living as we reach 10's of millions of Americans and changed millions of lives for the better. I see GT's impact in the political arena as a force for positive change. I see the disappearance of inhumane factory farming of animals and the disappearance of chemical agriculture, replaced with the huge growth in sustainable agriculture. I see GT lead the charge to "buy local" with resultant reduction in prices due to lowered transportation costs. I see vitality and prosperity returned to family farmers as the message of "BUY LOCAL" reverberates across this nation. I see reduction in fuel consumption as people opt to have groceries delivered efficiently rather than make numerous trips to the grocery store. I see millions of GT associates enjoy lives of abundance, health and prosperity, making responsible choices, for themselves and the environment, and being a force for good... good stewards of the environment and earth's resources. What we need for our public (customers) is a Mission statement... A mission statement
is a brief description of a company's fundamental purpose. The mission statement articulates the company's purpose both for those in the organization and for the public. MISSION STATEMENT: To help millions of people become healthy and wealthy, through education about, promotion of and access to quality organic grocery choices at affordable prices, delivered right to their door; to bring about a better way of living... a better way of eating.... a better way of shopping... all geared towards improving people's health, their wealth, the environment and the economy! Our slogan is: We are "doing the right thing, and doing it right!" The above are my personal visions and purpose... yours may not necessarily be the same, everyone is different, an example of another purpose may be: "To use GTrain as a vehicle to raise $millions for our church's overseas ministeries". My point is you have to define your goals, visions, purpose... and make a plan! -----------------------------------------------------------

Grocery Train is still effectively in pre-launch. This is a great opportunity to build a team before a lot of competition arrives! Take advantage! Line up your prospects, even if they don't enroll immediately. Some people will want to see the ordering platform up before they enroll... and that's ok. Right now you are looking for people who have the VISION... people who can see this picture of Grocery Train's future as clearly as you and I. I look at companies like Amazon.com... wow! Amazon did $48 billion last year... all online ordering and UPS/FedX delivery, and they are not yet in the grocery delivery market. Companies such as Peapod who are in the market have limited delivery areas... Peapod is currently in just 35 cities and is at $2.3 billion.
What share of the grocery delivery market do you want to be earning commissions on?
---------------------------------------------------------- THINK GROCERY TRAIN IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK?
Here's a quote from 12/11 Fortune Magazine that named Howard Schultz The 2011 Business Person of the Year. (Thanks for this info Ginny!)
Starbucks announced the $30 Million acquisition of 'Evolution Fresh', a boutique California provider of super-premium fresh-squeezed juices. Starbucks intends to use Evolution as its entry into the "health and wellness" food category. Expect to see a separate menu of juices to go and food next year at some Starbucks as well as stand alone stores called Evolution by Starbucks.
"We're going to make a big bet in health and wellness," Schultz says.
YES, we're on the right track... but remember, Even if YOU'RE on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's get this built before Associate delivery starts in July!!
Grocery Train is set to grow to a $billion company!
WE INVITE YOU TO COME GROW WITH US!!
