I just read that Pledge, you know, the furniture cleaner, dust cleaner, whatever, contains silicones, butane gas & propane! OMG! Well, I don't really know what the dangers of silicones are (note to self, look it up) but I do know, why would I want to polish my furniture with flamable gases??
Here's what else I found out about what most of you probably have under your kitchen sink RIGHT NOW!!
You know how you want to spray Lysol anti-bacterial disinfectant spray EVERYWHERE, because of course you want to kill the germs and make a safe home for your family? Well, did you know that you are probably causing them more harm by spraying that stuff? Here's what's in it: denatured ethanol which warns: "May cause irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes, may cause central nervous system depression if inhaled or ingested." And alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride — a pesticide! You are spraying a pesticide on the surfaces that your children play on! I'm sorry, not me, not in this house.
Another product I found out about is Clorox Wipes. They contain dimethyl benzyl ammonia chloride .145 percent and dimethyl ethyl benzyl ammonia chloride. Both pesticides!
Don't even get me started on glass cleaners-reproductive effects, hello!
So, all of this stuff I found out just by doing a little research on the internet, and I must say it's pretty scary. Did you know that household cleaners fall under the Hazardous Products Act, which dates back to the mid-1960s?
Young children are most suseptible to these harmful chemicals, I imagine because they have smaller systems to process out these harmful chemicals, or maybe it's because their body systems haven't fully developed yet, or because they are more at the level that most of these cleaners are being used. But think about just the air itself in your home when you are using these chemicals. So it's not just children inhaling these fumes, what about that pregnant mom who's nesting and getting her house all clean & disinfected for her new baby & she's breathing in all these toxic chemicals and sending them right into her unborn baby via the umbilical chord!
A little research goes a long way!
I wonder how many people realize that there is a solution?
