SEOUL SEAFOOD RARE GIANT OCTOPUS - Korean Street Cooking

What is the RARE GIANT PACIFIC OCTOPUS?  

The rare Pacific ocotopus also known as the North Pacific giant octopus is a large cephalopod belonging to the genus Enteroctopus.

In plain English this octopus can get really big. It's distribution includes the coastal North Pacific, along California, Oregon, Washington, Brithish Columbia and more cold water environments.

The giant Pacific octopusis adapted best to oxygen-rich cold water. Based on one large live individual record of 71-kg (156-lb) weighed alive. Prey includes shrimp, crabs, abalone, cockles, snails, clams, lobster and other octopuses.

Food is caught in it's suckers and then bitten using its tougn "beak." Giant Pacific Octopus have in the wild, preyed upon small sharks. Ginger Morneau reportedly photographed a wild Pacific ocotopus attacking and dronwing a seagull in 2012. The species will eat food sources, in it's size range.

Otopuses are intelligent, the have the ability to open childproof bottles, solve simple puzzles and use tools. Giant Pacific Octopuses have shown... kept in display aquariums have shown the ability to recogonize frequent visitors.

These octopus have been known to wreak havoc in aquariums and labs, opening tank valves, taking apart expensive equipment. There are claims they have personalities and motor skills. Hollywood has taken advantage of the Octopus mythology on the silver screen.

Small octopus of all types are prized in mostly Asian cooking, Korea, China, Vietam are a few of the countries that use octopus in varied and prized dishes. Many of these cooks are Street Food Vendors.
