It is that time of year when you are required to review and update your ICANN information. Don’t know what it is? ICANN is an n acronym for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. I won’t go into all of the jargon explaining what they do, however I will tell you it is important to make sure that you meet the requirements of updating your domain information annually.
If your registrar is GoDaddy, then you do not have to worry, they will inform you and make the process as easy as clicking a link in the email that they send informing you of the update requirement. I would imagine it is the same for most registrars, but cannot say for certain because GoDaddy is the only one I use.
If your website is hosted by someone like GoDaddy or Yahoo they may take care of it for you, I don’t really know because I’m sort of a hands-on control freak and do it all myself.
You can potentially loose your domain if this requirement is not met annually. The odds of this happening are slim, but it does happen.
I just wanted to remind you that it’s that time of year again.
