I was first introduced to this lifetime quote by my local barber. In fact I must have been to him for my regular trim 2 or 3 times before I noticed. It is placed on the wall next to his chair but high enough to be visible by the clients.
As to why I did not see it on the very first day, it may be that I am just not observant enough.
Now this is a quote by the American actor/comedian Jonathan Winters
. My barber has found it though as a great life lesson.
My barber will be considered an ordinary man. He has been cutting hair and shaving faces full time for over twenty years. In the Caribbean we tend to use the term self-employed more than home business. So over the past years he has been running his small business pretty much by himself.
Asked if he ever trained other barbers. His reply was "yes, but these guys are not serious." He explains that even before the trainees have learnt the trade, they are always in a hurry to leave and set up shop. Seems like they are always ready to move on ahead of success.
My barber opens his shop 9:00 am - 10:00 pm Mondays to Saturdays. He finds time to do other things in between when the day is slow. Closed on Sundays. He has been trimming one head at a time and shaving one face at a time for over twenty years. His charges are the lowest and he is never in a hurry to get a client off the chair.
He must be taking his wall posting very seriously.
There are many ways to view this timeless quote "I couldn't wait for success so I went ahead without it". My take is one needs perseverance, patience, dedication and hard work to succeed. Don't give up your dreams. Don't leave it behind. Success will come if you do not leave it behind.
I am a new client, so he must be doing somethings well.
Should you or are you going ahead without success?
