Happy St. Patrick's Day!
St. Patrick's Day is a religious celebration which takes place every March 17th. It is the day of the Feast of St. Patrick. It is the traditional day of the death of St. Patrick. St. Patrick's Day celebrates the arrival of Christianity in Ireland and it celebrates Irish heritage and culture.
St. Patrick's Day celebration include parades, festivals, the wearing of the green, eating and drinking. The Lenten restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol were dropped for the day, thus, the holiday's tradition of feasting and alcohol consumption began. It is an official holiday is Ireland, Newfoundland, Labrador, and Montserrat. It is an unofficial holiday in much of the US.
Green beer is a St. Patties tradition.
