funny fathers day

Father Knows Best

Father Knows Best (1954-1960) is a classic TV series, in which, Robert Young (as Jim Anderson) portrayed an almost perfect dad.  In nearly every episode his quiet wisdom was called upon by one or more of his children to solve a problem.

Actually the TV series was preceded by the radio series of Father Knows Best.  In the radio series, Jim Anderson (played by Robert Young) was far from perfect.  In the radio series he is sarcastic and says things like, "What a bunch of stupid children I have."

Bad Influence  (Bud is in trouble and a moral lesson).

Robert Young is the only member of the radio cast that remained with the show, when it went to TV.  The series painted an idyllic family life and America loved it.

I seemed to really relate to the character, Bud, the teenage son.  He was always getting into trouble and it wasn't exactly his fault...hmmm...I can still relate.

Fathers Know Best!??

Which child?

Dad won the big life size rabbit at the fair!

His four kids were thrilled.  Then dad realized he had a problem, one huge rabbit and four children.  He decided to use logic to solve his problem.

He sat his kids down on the nearest bench.

"Who should get this rabbit?" he began.

"Who has been the most obedient?" he inquired.

"Who never talks back to mother?" he went on.

"Who always does everything mother says?" he concluded.

His four children sat quietly in thought for about 30 seconds.

Then four young voices said in unison, "OK, dad, you get the rabbit."

My friends, thank you so much for reading, much success, and to all you dads, Happy Father's Day.

The third Sunday in June is Father's Day.  Happy Father's Day!
