The Light In The Woods!

It was nearly 4PM, when they arrived at their campsite.  At 9 AM, six of us started out after a hearty breakfast.  All of us stopped around 1 PM for lunch, and the plan was to arrive at  the camp site by 4PM and there they were, on time.  The weather was almost warm for late December. There was only about another hour and a half before dark, and two were needed to set up camp while the other two were needed to catch a few fish for supper.

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Noel Price.  This story is not about me, it is about my two best friends and their sons.  I almost always go hiking with them, but this time I could only go halfway.  My best friends are Rod Curnee and Chad Forsythe, and their sons are Roger Curnee and Jack Forsythe, both strapping 15 year old boys.

My part in this has been to get this remarkable story on paper.  I and my son, Nate, a 6 foot 16 year old, did begin the hike with Rod and Chad and their sons, but having to be at work on Monday morning,  I, along with Nate, turned back about 1:30PM after lunch.  The rest continued to the campsite.   Our campsite is one of the nicest spots on the south end of  Bullman Lake.  It is one of the sandiest spots on the lake, but it is also one of the few spots where our cell phones work.

Nate and I got back home just after dark, had supper, and then about an hour or so later, got a phone call that Chad and Jack had both been hit by lightning and had been air lifted by helicopter to the ER at our local hospital.  We hurried to the ER and found Rod and Roger and Chad and Jack.

Chad and Jack were fine and waiting to be released.  I later learned that both Chad and Jack had gone into cardiac arrest and  had been dead for around 90 seconds or more.  Rod and Roger called 911 and  performed CPR which saved their lives.  I never did stop to think that the day had been sunny with no clouds.  I was just happy to see that Chad and Jack were alive, had not been burned and had not seemed to suffer any kind of impairment.

Two days later, we had an evening celebration and giving of thanks; Rod, Chad and I and our families.  It was then that I learned the truth.  If anyone but Rod and Chad and their sons had ever told me this incredible story, I would never have believed it.  I know that you won't believe it either.  Thus, this story is presented as fiction.  In addition, Rod and Chad are teachers and teachers that have had the following encounter may be jeopardizing their jobs, so, I reiterate, this is presented as fiction.

What really happened at Bullman Lake?
