Since when is a trip to a Zoo FREE?
Well I can tell you when we were thinking of where to go this last weekend. A zoo came to mind. Now Luke loves going to see different animals but did we really want to haul oursleves to the nearest zoo. About an hour drive away from the comfort of our home.
The rain was relentless on Monday our one family day. So we instead opted to go for lunch and the FREE zoo (A local Garden Centre LOL)
It's amazing how much fun a two year old boy can have at a garden centre ... with all the pets. Fish in aquariums, fish in the outside tanks, rabbits and guinea pigs, mice and the odd gerbil or rat. You can even get to see some lovley colourful birds. The only bird I remember as a child was a Mynah bird ... now he just had "colourful language"
Fun was had by all of us and all the money saved from not going on that expensive and probably wet and windy trip to the zoo, meant we could all be treated to lunch.
What ideas can you come up with for FREE or cheap days out with young children?
With another baby due in August, I am really going to need some ideas for the future! Have a great day everyone. To find out more about me Stay aT Home Dad and Internet Marketer please follow my link above!

| | | | | Nice Info...
That's great value |
| | | | | just sent your blog to twitter ! have a great day/night Baz |
| | | | | Where we live in St. Louis in the US, the zoo is always FREE, as are the museums of art, and history. We love to visit pet stores. If you want colorful birds or tropical fish, there are special pet stores for them available. When given fair weather, a short hike with little tykes in a carrier on your back makes the countryside vistas fun to share. |

| | | | | Excellent post Buz,thanks for share :) |
| | | | | Yes Barbara I think that was Bruce's point as well. Wehen we were all kids money didn't grow on trees then either! Is it really more difficult at the moment or did our parents struggle financially? the answer was probably in most cases a Big YES |
| | | | | Sounds as though you had a lovely day with the family Baz .
Yes, the weather was lousy, but it's nice that the simple things are often the most fun - great post ! |
| | | | | Thanks for your comment Bruce. Perhaps it is just the way the world has gone ... money makes the world go round!
Some of our best moments with Luke have been the cheapest! |
| | | | | Baz thank you for sharing, isn't it wonderful how we can find ways to get things and enjoy family time. Enjoyed your zoo story... I can picture yours sons eyes see all the different animals. See you at the top. |
| | | | | Great post Baz. It's funny, but as kid (and that was a few decades ago) I remember trips to the local "botanical garden" to see some animals, having a picnic lunch and playing in the garden...better than I remember some of the "special trips". It's something that youngsters these days view as boring - if you aren't paying for something i can't be good - I have no idea why this is the case. |
| | | | | Thanks Kris, you are so right having the flexibility with this industry is BRILLIANT! |
| | | | | How fun! I remember those days long ago when my kids were young and that is the beauty of this business being able to stay home with them! Thanks for sharing! ~Kris Karafotas |
| | | | | See Ally we don't really need all this money !LOL |
| | | | | Hi Baz. It sounds like you had a great day at the ZOO. The garden centre here is like that too, with birds and a play area with swings, see-saw and slide. |
