Are You Sending Out Boring Emails?

Getting people onto your email list is a good first step, but unless the people who get your emails like what they receive from you, will they ever decide to buy from you? Do those letters let people get to know you as well as what you sell?

Getting to know you can start with something as simple as including a photo of yourself. That shows that you are a real live person. People won't care if you don't look like some movie star. Just be yourself in how you look and what you write. Here is the picture of myself that I use.

That photo of me was taken when I was on a date with my wife, which explains the big smile that I have. I tend to be cheerful most of the time, so that picture helps people know the kind of guy I am.

We also should let people know we care about them. We should ask questions, and let them know we want to know about them and what they are interested in. We should make it clear that we are open to whatever questions they may have.

It used to be that plain text emails were fine for email marketing, but those now look ever so bland. At the very least we should use different sized fonts for headers and sub headers, so people are drawn to the important sections of our letters.

In some cases, giving our emails more of newsletter format with two or three columns, and using different colors for backgound and text, can help generate respect and build our reputation as professionals.

I use TrafficWave for my autesponder, and I like how I am able to upload my own photos and images so I can use  them whenever I want. I can also use URLs to sites where I have the images stored, but if those sites ever go down then, my images wouldn't appear when people got my emails.

I like how I can use a variety of templates available in TrafficWave, or create brand new ones. I also like being able to use colors and being able to add images to help spark interest.

Letting people get to know us, not just our products, is the only way we can ever expect to have long term loyal customers. Personalizing the emails we use in our marketing can be an effective way to go about doing that. I invite you to take 30 free trial to see how much it can help you with all your email marketing.
