Part 2- Ways to Eliminate Stress in our Life or our Job
The most important thing you can to is to identify where your stress is coming from. Is your workload becoming too much to handle? Maybe you can’t find the time to get your housework done or your relationship with your spouse could be suffering.
Once you have identified the source of your stress it is time to take action. If your job is the cause see if you can lighten your work load. If your job duties have increased over the last few years, your supervisor may not realize that they have burdened you with too much.
If this is the case you need to address the situation correctly. Make a detailed list of all your related job duties over a two to four week period. Make notes of how long it takes you to complete and if there are tasks which you are unable to do. If you have been staying late or coming in early jot this down too.
Once you have compiled your list ask your supervisor for a meeting. Then you can sit down and explain your problem to them. Your notes will back you up and serve as proof.
By addressing the situation in a professional manner your supervisor will appreciate the time and effort you put into this report. They truly may not realize how much you have to do and can reassign some duties to another worker.
If your relationship is the cause of your stress then deal with the situation. Don’t allow things to build up and cause more stress as you could easily end up having medical problems. Working full time and taking care of your family and home can be a struggle. If you are feeling overwhelmed then ask for help. You may be surprised at how much help you will receive. Often family members just don’t see that you are struggling to keep up.
Take a couple of hours at least one night a week and treat yourself to a hot bath and pamper yourself. Your spouse can take care of the kids while you relax and unwind. Plus you can then do the same for them.
Learning how to ask for help can be difficult for some people. But getting help with the house work, grocery shopping and kids can be a life saver. Ask your kids to help you out. Then can help get the laundry ready and put out the garbage on garbage day!
Not saying anything about your stress level is a certain way to run into health problems. Plus you are possibly putting your marriage in jeopardy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help. It can take a huge weight off of your shoulders.
