As I take a closer look into the facts and statistics of CVDs I was a little taken back. With around 17 million people dying each year from heart diseases I asked myself 'what exactly is causing this to happen?' I mean if CVDs kill more people than cancer or hunger which I would never had thought possible. You always get told to wear sunscreen and a hat but you rarely get told about the main cause of death! So I'm going to tell you the main causes of CVDs and also some of the ways you can protect yourself from heart diseases.
There is valid information to suggest that smoking increases the risk of heart disease by 2-3 times. Also the less exercise the more likely you are to get CVDs and also a main factor is diet. So you hear things like, exercise for at least 30 minutes/day, the bigger your belly the more likely you are to have a heart attack and give up cigerettes.
If we do things like take the stairs at work, maybe ride a bike and catch the train where possible, take a morning or afternoon walk without smoking and eating healthy we can make a big difference.
This all got me to thinking... "People don't committ to doing this (well I don't anyway)" but there is a clear and easier way!
If you cut down to half the cigerettes you smoke, just walked to the local shops when you go to get milk and bread and ate a nice salad with a smaller amount of your usual meals, you CAN and WILL be living a much healthier and heart aware lifestyle!!!
