DON'T Over Promote Affiliate Products

Don’t Over Promote Affiliate Products

If you are interested in becoming an affiliate marketer there are several things you need to know. One of the biggest mistakes new affiliates make is promoting too many products at one time. All this does is confuse your website visitors and they will end up clicking away.

Take a look at this scenario. You land on a website looking for a health related product. The site has a ton of information on it and is loaded with banners for a variety of products from different companies. The problem with this is a) it gives the customer too much information that they get confused and b) the site looks too salesy instead of informational.

All this affiliate managed to achieve was to turn potential customers away. Now this is the route they should have used.

Set up a website to promote one type of product, treadmills, pedometers etc. Then discuss the benefits of these products and why using one will help their problem; lose weight, get fit, increase mobility and more. The reader can then find reviews of these products with the pros and cons of each one listed clearly. At the end of the review is a link to the main sales page.

This second scenario works because of the following reasons:

  1. Promotes only one type of product
  2. Is not cluttered with a ton of banners and flashy advertisements
  3. Provides targeted information such as the features and benefits of each product
  4. Gives precise details of how to order the product

If you were to visit this second website it would be easier to navigate and less cluttered. Plus you immediately know what type of product is being discussed and if this is a fit for you. You don’t have to waste time searching through a stack of unrelated information.

This is exactly why it is so important to set up a clear website promoting only one type of product at a time. There is nothing wrong with comparing different products and companies either. Just make the information clear to read, comparison tables are good for this.

So while you may be tempted to promote lots of affiliate products and companies on one site, it is best not to do so. Focus on creating mini affiliate sites that give your reader enough information so that they can easily make an informed buying decision. You will gain more visitors to your site and higher commissions if you do.

To Your Success!!
