Remember when you first signed up to be part of a new and growing company. Your motivation level was as high as it could be, just like most people who are just getting started. The problem is that about 70% end up quitting within the first 90 days; apparently motivation alone isn't enough.
The biggest problem with motivation is that rises and falls, sometimes on a daily basis. One day you are full of energy and ready to take on the world and the next day you’re in the valley, losing your motivation altogether.
If you rely on motivation alone to get you up and going or to meet your goals, chances are that you’ll give up that same goal during a period of low motivation.
The key to success is to adopt a strategy that removes motivation from the equation as much as possible. Don't get mistake motivation for a positive attitude. You can choose the attitude, the motivation fluctuates too much.
You start by making a well grounded decision about your goals. Make sure you are properly informed about the pros and cons of your decision as well as any other factors that will help you make a decision based on logic and reason, rather than a passing emotional high.
Making a decision this way will make the task of self-discipline a much easier.
So today, make the decision to build your own future – be it health, relationships, or financial. Be very familiar with your goals in order make the best decisions to do what you need to do on a daily basis even when you don't feel like doing it.
Find someone to help you stay on track – someone that has already achieved the success that you are after yourself. Having a positive role model can inspire you because they are a living example of what is possible.
Next, make sure you are accountable to someone else that you know has your best interest at heart. Accountability can help to get us over those low motivation moments by not allowing us to ignore the reality of our actions or lack of action and also to remind us what the reason was that we set our goals to begin with.
As you take begin taking action toward your goals, you will find that your doubts and fears start to be replaced by confidence and positive action. This cycle of “action – learning – results – learning” will help you develop a personal momentum that will charge your motivational battery from within.

| | | | | Thanks Dennis, and you are spot on... A Results Based Plan has GOT to be in place or all the motivation in the world is just a dream... |
| | | | | Motivation alone is not enough. Very well said. Having a results based plan to carry you through low motivation periods needs to be part of the plan. Remember when you started in essence you started a business. Ever wonder why 95 % of Amish who start business are still in business five years later? They follow the success of others of their faith. |
