The Truth about Cash back sites

JoAnne here, and today I'll tackle the topic of cash back sites and share with you the key truths you need to know about these sites. Please note, this PR includes affiliate links, If you find value in the advice I offer, I appreciate your thank you through using my referral links, it will cost you nothing and might buy me a Starbucks or Tim's.

So Do They Work?

I can say loud and clear YES! I've been using them for several years now ( I share my top two favorite sites below) and get my cash back deposited to my PayPal account. I think the real questions behind do they work are - why does a site give cash back and how best can it work for me so I'll share my answers to those questions as well.

If you are anything like me, you have likely wondered why these companies offer your money back in the first place!  Well, it's pretty simple, these companies get paid to refer business to those businesses. So when ever the sale is registered on those sites as being referred by this cash back site, they get paid and they share part of that payment as a cash back incentive to you. You'll notice that these sites often have promotions and the such for particular stores or items as negotiated by the retailer. Another reason these sites offer cash back is to collect information on peoples buying habits that can then help them offer better deals, attract new retailers or negotiate better terms with existing retailers.

So how best can it work for you, you ask? Well, these sites are pretty simple and the best strategy I can say is to just try them, sign up for free and then always think about them before you pay and ensure you follow the steps to ensure your purchase qualifies for the cash back!

Which ones can be trusted?

I share my top two sites I love at the end of this PR, however, there are tons of these sites and new ones cropping up often so here are my two top red flags that would make me choose to avoid using a particular site:

1) Avoid any site that has no physical address listed or clear information about who owns it or where the business is located. Are you like me that you just bounce right off a site because you can't tell who is behind the site? These sites tend to have only an email address listed for customer support, no physical address or phone number. That's a huge red flag, particularly where there is cash back involved.

2) Avoid a site that has a registration fee to get cash back. I am fine with a site that has a withhold or takes a certain percentage of the cash back I might earn, however, think about it. Why would a site that promises to help me get cash back in my pocket, make me pay upfront to get cash back? Red flag #2 for me to stay far away!

Bonus, I also look at the longevity of the site and the breadth of retailers covered. I do this to assess financial stability of the business as it can sometimes take some time to get your rebates back so I want to make sure this company will stick around and you can only get your cash back from a company who has the money to pay you!

3 Hacks on how to get the most cash back on your shopping:

1) Triple your cash back with this simple stacking hack!

Triple your cash back with stacking, stacking means using multiple cash back techniques on one purchase which is completely possible and legitimate. For example, I shop sale items and or apply a coupon, purchase online through a cash back site and use a cash back credit card. BOOM! I'm getting cash back three ways!

2) Sometimes, you can earn the best rewards on these cash back sites by signing up for financial products such as insurance policies. However, always be sure that you legitimately need and want the product and are not just signing up to get the money back.

3) This may seem simple but it has to be said, shop around for the best rebate and consider what you know about the retailer and their own sales or promotions to maximize the amount of cash you get back or keep in your pocket instead of theirs! Some of these sites offer browser extensions which can make it easy for you to know and compare.

The top two sites I love and why!

Ebates - my favourite way to earn cash for free on all my online purchases

1) Ebates - I was bowled over the number of retailers I can earn cash back with. From eBay to Amazon (check out my drop shipping hack video) to, Groupon, staples copy and print for businesses and more! After buying a washing machine online from Home Depot and missing out on $20 cashback because I did not think to I was kicking myself..Now, I have the habit that whenever I have decided to purchase anything online, before putting it in my shopping cart on the site, I ALWAYS check my cash back sites.

My second favourite cash back site is Top Cash Back

2) Top Cashback- they have no minimum before they release payment and they like Ebates cover a large range of stores. I tend to check these two and go with the one offering the best cash offer out of the two.

So I hope you enjoyed my post for today, let me know if you are a fan of cash back sites too and what has been your experience below in the comments and feel free to ask any questions you have.

Until next time, to your success,
