Can one earn money as a publisher?

If you have a website you can place ads on your site from a multitude of advertisers. I happen to use Google Adsense. If you don't have a website you can still earn money by placing ads on your IBO social page. IBO has an Adsense tool in the IBO Tools page that handles this. There are videos on IBOtoolbox that go instruct one how to use the Adsense tool. One only has to have a Google Adsense account which is free. If you run ads on your site you are a publisher. Google provides quite a bit of information to publishers about the performance of the ads they place. They provide the number of page impressions as well as the number of ad requests which is helpful if you run multiple ads per page. They naturally provide the number of ads that were clicked and the amount you were paid. Google pays you when a visitor to your site clicks an ad. One interesting piece of data that is generated is the RPM which is revenue per thousand impressions. There is also quite a bit more information which can be gleaned if you run Google Analytics on your site. This is not required however. One thing about running Adsense is that it gives the publisher a whole new perspective on running ads and what kind of results one can expect. For instance, source of traffic has a definite effect on how much one earns per page impression. If your driving traffic via search (SEO), you will earn quite a bit more as the ads provided will tend to be of interest to the what the visitor was looking to find. Whereas visitors that come form ad-clicking sites are less likely to be interested in an ad. Like any business, one can make money by being a publisher but two primary components are required; Knowledge about the business through continual learning and lots of work! Stated another way, you must work in your business by building your site and adding content. You must also work on your business by constant learning through researching and testing.
