Persistence And Keeping Motivated

Becoming "successful" has different meanings for different people. But whatever your idea, the important point is to have something to aim at - a definite goal. Think carefully about what you really want to do with your time. You can only spend your time once - so spend your days wisely!

Having a focus, something to aim at, is a starting point for success. The other main thing you need is persistence - "never give up", as Winston Churchill used to say. He also phrased it another way: "KBO" (which is colourful British language - "Keep Buggering On")!

If you are not already persistent by nature, then you need to create new habits to help build up that idea and feeling within yourself. Use visualisation as a tool to build up an image of how you want to be. Don't just imagine your outer behaviour, you want to really feel how it will be when you are persistent and successful.

Being persistent means also being resilient, and not worrying about things turning out badly. Remember that there are no "failures" - they are "results". Indeed, you must expect to "fail"; when we make mistakes, we discover the boundaries of our existing knowledge. The important point is to learn from the experience when something doesn't turn out as expected. Learn, and move on.

As with most things in life, there is no simple solution that will fit every individual. If you are having trouble getting motivated to act persistently, you need to at the very least be persistent in looking for your own solutions. Keep trying different motivational ideas - there are thousands of people willing to help you out. There are many thousands of free resources like videos, audios, and books available.

Just keep going - even if you feel you can't do much, just do something every day that will move you at least a little bit toward your goals. At the very least, be persistent in finding ways to motivate yourself.

Here are a few ideas for some motivation:
