United Way offers free prescription drug discount card to everyone
Orange County — United Way of Orange Texas is offering free a prescription drug card through the Nulegacy International Discount Prescription card program.
Nulegacy is a nationwide community service partnership that provides simple, immediate relief from the high cost of prescription drugs, in the form of a prescription drug discount card. Along with 1,000 other United Way Nulegacy partners helped save people $40 million on the cost of their medicine in the 3 years.
One out of every five people in the United States has no prescription drug coverage.
This problem has increased substantially due to the current financial crisis, which means more people have simply stopped buying their medicine or reduced the dosage they need.

The result is more people getting sick and staying sick, which in turn increases absentee rates in the workplace and at schools, as well as the costs of charity care at local hospitals. This problem isn’t going to be solved over night, but there is help available.

Schools, churches and other human service agencies that work with people in need can get as many cards as they need.
Cards can be used immediately, just present the card and a prescription at one of the many participating pharmacies (find one close to you at usaprescriptionhelp.org ) and you will automatically receive the discount. There are no applications, fees, waiting periods or requirements. Non-residents can use them as well and no personal information is collected. Card users save on average 50.1 percent of cost about 8 out of 10 times when they have to buy medicine not covered by insurance.
The Nulegacy cards are being distributed free of charge by United Way of Orange Tx., the Nulegacy Partnership, and over 750 other United Way agencies and Alliance Partners in America’s Promise in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. The savings on the cost of medicine is provided voluntarily by the participating pharmacies in the community.
