An office park off Lehigh Station Road in Henrietta is home to 5LINX Enterprises.
The telecommunications firm has grown considerably since its inception in 2001 winning local and national awards in each of the last six years.
Craig Jerabeck, 5LINX President and CEO, said, "Primarily we sell telecommunications products. We started out selling cellular phones and satellite television, local telephone services, long distance telephone services. That was the core product line back in 2001."
Telecom is still the core, but 5LINX now has about 30 products in its portfolio including credit card processing, text marketing and web conferencing. In the early days 5LINX would sell other people's products. That changed in 2006.
"We actually bought our own network infrastructure. So we became a telecom provider in our own right and we have several million dollars worth of investment telecom switching equipment that sits in New York City and Atlanta. We look very much today like a Paetec, Windstream or a Frontier where we're asset based," said Craig Jerabeck.
5LINX services are used by business and residential customers. It's a unique model consisting of a representative network with 70,000 independent reps in the field across the us and canada. That's on top of the 250 employees based at its Henrietta headquarters. There are also 20 employees at the company's Santa Barbara, California office which opened last year.
"Windstream just went through a riff they call it, and global has gone through some downsizing so for us that represents a nice opportunity. In fact, we just hired a couple of people from those firms. So if people are looking for jobs in the community and if they're in one of these telecom companies, we're hiring," Craig Jerabeck said.
The company added more than 100 new employees last year and currently has seven vacancies in Henrietta waiting to be filled. 5LINX Enterprises, this week's in-depth business profile.
