Red Tea Detox Review - dieters tea

Little did I think when I went to lunch with former colleagues I would end up writing a Red Tea detox review.

I'd never heard of this dieter's tea ... as I tucked into my second portion of Stick Toffee Pudding - naughty, I know - my friend, Sally, bemoaned the fact that she could not find a diet that she could stick to long term. 

She'd tried various ones she's seen advertised, but found them

  • too complicted
  • too time-consuming or
  • did not show results fast enough for her to want to continue.

We were all in agreement that it was harder to get rid of weight as you got older.

Having teased me about my new blog, all the way through lunch she set me a challenge - find a weight loss programme for her that was

  • healthy and 
  • gave you results quickly so you wanted to continue 
  • had plenty of variety of foods and flavours
  • where she didn't have to spend hours cooking 
  • was not "a fad diet" where she would lose weight quickly and within months put it all back on again
  • that she could stick to with her busy family life and work and had
  • a simple exercise programme with it.

Was that all, I asked?

It was quite a challenge Sally had set me!

But as she said, looking quite serious, it would be the ideal diet for so many.

I had to agree - and asked how long I had to find this miracle?

Yes. It does take time to read it ...

If you don't feel like reading, it comes with audio, which is much more convenient for many.

Long story short -
The basic programme is divided into 3 parts

  • Diet
  • Exercise
  • Will power, Mindset and Motivation.

Liz says at the start -

Please read the entire book - not just the bits that appeal ...

Confession-time: as a former Food teacher, who has read scores of diet programmes - (many of which repeat the same old message over and over again: eat less, exercise more ) ...

I usually just read the bits I want to.

However, I decided to follow her advice - and am I glad I did.

There is so much info, all related to why and how this programme works ... and the need for detoxing and colon cleansing.

The whole programme is put together in a very logical manner and a lot of the research she refers to is fascinating.
Had I skipped around, I would have ended up being very confused - even though I probably know more than most people about diet and weight loss.

She gives the best explanation I have ever read on understanding your BMR and how it effects weight loss. 

If you action the plan exactly, she says it's perfectly possible to lose 5-10-15 lbs over 14 days and do so healthily.

Liz makes the point that getting rid of fat and flushing the toxins out of the body happens simultaneously with the Red Tea Detox.

Preventing the weight returning and no yo=yo dieting was a priority with this plan ...
As you know, so many people start a diet and then

  • give up with the first hunger pang or
  • give up part way when they don't see the quick results they want or
  • lose weight superbly, but gradually put it all back on again - and more.

Have you ever been on a diet and "fallen off the wagon"? I suspect most of us have. 

Liz makes the point that change of any kind is challenging ...

She shares an excellent system so you can stop punishing yourself, or giving up.

I badly wanted to know what the recipe was for this dieters tea

  • it's very precise as you would expect and did contain some surprises ... and Liz gives an
  • explanation why each ingredient is needed and the
  • part it plays in detoxifying the body and enabling weight loss.

And yes, I was pleased to see that as she says, all the ingredients would be available to me locally ...

But in the quantities in which they are needed, it would be very much cheaper to buy some of them in bulk though Amazon etc 

Fortunately, Liz does provide the links so anyone can get the ingredients to follow this diet.

The exercise section is not strenuous - while she does advise walking daily, she also gives 4 very simple, short exercises for a mini workout which recommends you do for just 3 days a week :) I liked that part.

Without a doubt, the Red Tea Detox is a complete system

  • the number of days each phase lasts ... all very simple and straightforward.

What I didn't like about the Red Tea Detox


  • There is a summary at the end of Chapter 9 which was extremely useful. I would have liked a summary at the end of each chapter - (I suspect one reason there isn't is to stop people like me just reading the summary).
  • Illustrations with the exercises would be helpful... I had to stand up to read and re-read the instructions  a couple of times to be sure I was doing them correctly.
  • Liz quotes from many pieces of research - I would have liked the direct links.
