The finest defining moments allow a person to soar to a much higher level.
After joining ACN, I tried establishing myself, engage with other like minded people, and developing a team to help fulfill a mission in my first 1 1/2 years.
Those years were filled with trial and error, adjustments and changes as I worked to establish credibility as a leader in my organization.
As time went by, knowing the vision that I had, I would have to capture the hearts and minds of those believing in the business opportunity. Once I presented that vision to everyone already on the team and those newly introduced to this business, a vision of everyone succeeding to at least the second paid position in the business within their first 30 days, it connected with the team and the organization exploded beyond my wildest imagination. It became a defining moment for hundreds of people and over the next 1 1/2 years became a life changing experience for many more.
So now that we've talked about these defining moments, how do you prepare for them?
To start, and step one, think back and reflect on your defining moments from the past.
It's said that those who don't study history are destined to repeat it's mistakes. I believe the best teacher for a leader is evaluated experience. To predict how you'll handle defining moments in the future, look back at the ones from the past.
You can also prepare for defining moments in the future.
One of the most valuable things I've done in my life is to make major changes before times of crisis or decisions. That has enabled me to simply manage those decisions in critical moments in my life.
Now that you'll be looking for defining moments, you will be in a better position to make the most of them.
Remember that after we experience one, we are never the same again. But the kind of change we experience will depend on how we respond to those moments.
Many moments present us with opportunities. With opportunities come work, but don't be afraid to take them. It is in those moments of risk that the greatest leaders are often born!
