My Tribute For My G-son Elijio (Ox)

First I want to lay some groundwork for my story set in the early 70s...

I hadn't slept good the night before so I wanted to lay down for a few minutes & watch a little daytime TV... Back then it was The Merv Griffin Show for me... Well, it wasn't long & I began to drift off somewhere between consciousness & drowsiness... You know what I mean, not completely awake... From the TV in the background came this music that seemed so surreal, just like a dream it sounded almost ethereal, extremely delicate & light in a way that seems almost too perfect for this world... I laid there sort of half listening when a man's voice began to narrate this song... His voice was deep, but had such a softness to it that the depth was mellowed out... This only emphasized the strange music that I was hearing... The audience applauded when he finished & I knew that I had to get up so that I could find out who did that song & the name of it... That song impressed me so & the scenario that I just described that I never forgot it... I've had it tucked away in my memory bank all of these years... More about that later...

I had a Grandson from Michigan who was a long haul truck driver & every time he would get close to where my husband & I lived in Florida he would make it a point to stop by & take us out to dinner... There was a small restaurant in my neighborhood that was perfect... The food was terrific, as was the service & they played soft rock from the 70s... We would sit there sometimes for a couple of hours just talking after an incredible meal... My husband passed away in November of 2010, but Elijio still would stop by & take me out to dinner... We became good friends... How many Grandmothers get taken out to dinner by their 32 year old Grandsons? I felt really blessed & fortunate... I have kept the nickname he gave to me & my other Grandkids use it when they talk to me... I'm their G-Ma...

Well, last year Elijio was on his way home on his motorcycle when he was hit & killed by a drunk driver... My daughter is having an extremely difficult time with this because Elijio & his Dad had a close relationship & his Dad passed away two years ago, also in September... I live in Florida & she lives in Michigan so our communications are by phone or Facebook...

Back to the song... I had looked on Youtu.be several years back, but no one had made a video out of it so I forgot about it, until today... What I don't understand is why after all of these years did I not only remember it, but thought how fitting it would be for Elijio's Tribute... I don't even remember what prompted me to check for it on Youtu.be one more time, but there it was, several copies as a matter of fact... I picked the one that I liked the best & decided that it would be appropriate to use as a Tribute for Elijio... That is why I decided to write this explanation of the sequence of events that led up to this because it all seemed so strange to me... This is guaranteed to give you goosebumps as it did me... Think of something so big & grand & it will remind you of Elijio (Ox)... He was the kind of guy whose heart was as big as his body... This video makes me believe that he is in the heavens looking down on us trying to put his massive arms around us & telling us, "Don't worry, it's OK here & I'm with my hero, my Dad... You guys take care of each other & Mom... We'll all be together bye & bye"...
