My 31 Day Challenge.

I'm inviting you to hold me accountable as I commit myself, no, not to an institution, but to this program I signed up for... I'm a writer but have never had any formal training... I've known some success so far, but that only proved to me that I can do this... Now I figure, if God gave me this skill which I enjoy, I need to do all I can to develop it... I've seen other programs come & go, but this one is going to hold my feet to the fire... It will provide me with the discipline I need because I want to learn how to schedule a daily blog... That is one of the key ingredients I'm lacking that's been keeping me from advancing my skill level... My long term goal is to eventually write a book this year...

I am a self starter & I believe in Divine Inspiration... I've learned to pay attention when God sends me, what I've learned to call His gentle God nudges... I have loved bicycles all of my life so when I stopped in this little bike shop, lo & behold there was this scaled down replica of an 1883 Columbia Boneshaker, color red, just sittin' in the corner collecting dust... The frame had a 27” wheel in the front with high handlebars & it dropped down to a little 12” wheel in the back... It was love at first sight, so without even trying it I put it on layaway... The owner agreed & I never rode it until it was paid for a few weeks later...

When I picked it up I immediately took it outside & took it for a spin... Yeahhh !!! It was like that bike was made for me... Now I had to figure out a way to show it off because it wasn't built for speed or distance... I started imagining all the ways I could use it... God nudged me & I got the idea to enter the parades in my county... I needed to become part of a group in order to enter... Another nudge, I know, I could become a clown... The Christmas Parades were coming up & since I was living alone I decided instead of putting up decorations in my apartment when I was hardly ever home... I went to the local Christmas store & bought $75.00 worth of red, green & gold tinsel garland... I decided to show off my decorations to all of Pinellas County... I wound that garland through the spokes & all around the frame, put pinwheels on the ends of my handlebars with one in the middle, added an oogah horn & I was ready to go... I was placed behind one of the high school bands, which is right where I wanted to be... Now the bike with myself in my makeup & costume looked absolutely outrageous... I would do donuts, bounce up & down on the seat all the while keeping time to the music... I would holler out, “Merry Christmas” to the name of the town as I was advancing... The first city I appeared in was Clearwater... I became “Clearwater Crackers”, the bike became my “Cherry Bomb”... I had the advantage over all the other clowns who were walking the route... I got to ride & while we were lining up I could ride up & down the lineup, scope out the rest of the parade & wish everyone there a “Merry Christmas”... I was an instant hit & I loved what I was doing... That was my Christmas present to myself that year & I didn't have to spend Christmas alone... I do know how to make lemonade out of lemons... I was 51 years old at that time... ;-)

'Til next time this is Linda Michel White,

Senior Networker & Blogger signing off...

Warm regards from "My Sunshine State of Mind"...
