My 31 Day Challenge Day 3 - I Will Make Time For My Passion

Well, here I am on Day 3 & I'm takin' it one day at a time... That's how I reached 26 years of sobriety, so 31 days will be easy by comparison...

I like to do my writing at the end of the day... That way I watch & listen for those little God nudges that I talked about previously... Today my patience paid off again... I am a student of Napoleon Hill... Even though he's gone from us his wisdom lives on through his priceless legacy that he left behind... I found this thought for the day in my inbox:

Conceive, Believe, Achieve...

Whatever the mind of man can conceive & believe, the mind can achieve...

I have used this more times than I can remember & it works for me whenever I start doubting myself... It just takes time... Though patience has not been one of my strong virtues, I have discovered it is a learned skill that will only reveal itself to me with practice...

  • First, the idea must come to me in the form of a new idea... That takes something else Mr. Hill writes about, “Imagination”... Imagination to me is original thought which is used as a creative resource of things yet unseen... This is supported by a “Can Do Attitude” which I have developed through perseverance...

  • Second, I must believe whatever it is, I now know I am quite capable of figuring out how it can be accomplished... That's when I ask for the help of my Divine Guidance who leads me to the answers... It happens more often than not, the answers were obvious to me all along... I just need to keep my focus on the results I am looking for... This is one of my speed bumps as I get easily distracted by other things I find interesting...

  • Third, by recognizing my shortcomings I become more aware of what I need to do to achieve my desired goals... I have learned to keep my eye on the prize...

My clowning days taught me that if I wanted to do this outrageous thing I must learn to devote the necessary time needed to pull it off... On weekends when others would be sleeping in, I would get up at 3 in the morning to get ready for a 10 a. m. parade... No matter how hard I would try to get things done in advance, I still had to prep my face so that when I applied grease paint it would stay where I wanted it... That would take 45 minutes during which time I could be paying attention to other details... It would take 45 minutes to apply the makeup... The first time I tried to put grease paint on my face I was terrified because I knew if I were to make a mistake it wasn't that easy to remove & would be time consuming to correct... I made it over that speed bump when I realized how silly that was in of itself... I thought, come on now, what woman doesn't know how to put on makeup... Once I figured that out I could do it, no problem...

Of course everyone I knew thought I was crazy for giving up my weekend for something so silly, but what they didn't realize was the rewards I was receiving by the laughter & cheers I received from the crowds lining the streets... In my nine years of clowning that was the most satisfying thing I've ever done so far in my life, because I created it... I gained a following in multiple cities in Pinellas County, Florida... I would not trade that part of my life for anything else...

Warm regards from “My Sunshine State of Mind”...
