Why I Love Self Deprecating Humor?

I've always been a very outgoing person... That's just my nature... I'm a fun loving Sagittarius... I reached my peak when I decided to take up clowning as a hobby... I am a firm believer in Divine Inspiration & being an avid student of Napoleon Hill, I especially related to his lessons about imagination & enthusiasm, so now the stage was set... Some things are just meant to be...

Divine Guidance Enters:

I was inspired by a bicycle I saw collecting dust in a local bike shop... I have loved bikes all of my life so when I found this one I instinctively knew I just had to have it... It was a replica of an 1888 Columbia “Boneshaker” or "Penny-Farthing" though scaled down...  It had a 27” front wheel, high handlebars & the frame dropped down to a little 12” wheel in the back... It was perfect for me... Enter, new problem, since it wasn't suitable for speed or distance I now had to figure out how to show it off...

Next Step, Divine Inspiration Enters:

Parades! You must be a member of a group to be in them... Clowning? Why not? I have the personality for it... Immediately my research mode kicked in & my character slowly evolved as I got better with practice... I did all the parades in Pinellas County for nine years until my work demanded too much overtime...

I developed three clown characters:

The first one was,

"Clearwater Crackers” & the bike was my“Cherry Bomb”

Clearwater Crackers

The second was:

“Re-Pete of St. Pete” & the bike became my Re-Cycle”...

That made me a recycled clown for,

The Awesome Original Second Time Arounders Marching Band of St. Petersburg, Florida”

The band consisted of about 500 members who used to play in a marching band at one time or another... They ranged in age from 18 to 85... I became their mascot...

A few years ago they were invited to & performed for,

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade”

Check this out, they really are that good...

I even won an award for:

“The Best Clown Entry”

even though I was a solo act in one of the biggest parades in the county...

For St. Patrick's Day I developed a special character so I could paint faces in the humongous beer tent for the largest Irish Pub in the county, O'Keefe's...

For that event I became:

Garlic O'Hara”

Needless to say I had a blast...

Sorry, I just cannot find a photo for Ms. O'Hara...

I owed all of these successes to my two mentors,

Napoleon Hill & Emmet Fox

whose lessons about Inspiration & Enthusiasm I learned & practiced while I was getting sober... They are my two favorite authors of all time...

By The Grace of God, along with the help of AA & Divine Inspiration that led me to take up clowning, I now have over 26 years without a drink... I will always be eternally grateful for what I used to think would be,

Mission Impossible”...

Instead I discovered,

I M Possible”

Signing off 'til next time this is,
