Seniorisms: There Comes A Time When Common Sense Must Rule!

For additional information  Click Here

One of the most difficult life lessons I've learned is when the inevitable happens, I must practice acceptance... At 78 I realize that advancing in years will bring some limitations with it... I will not kick & scream when that happens because I know that is futile... My effort must be directed towards my gratitude for being healthy enough so that I may enjoy those interests I'm still free to pursue...

I'm in relatively good health, but structurally, if I was a building I'd be condemned!  I have given it much thought over the last year & I've finally decided it's time I give up my drivers' license... I'd already given up driving at night because of poor night vision... During the day I just don't enjoy it anymore... Though I'm a creature that loves challenge, that one comes with too much responsibility... I realize also that this is not going to get any better for me... I am grateful because after my husband passed away I rented an apartment that is perfect for me... I love where I'm living because every destination is easily accessible to me, within a mile or so...

me & my bike

I have a 3 wheeled, 3 speed recumbent bike with a very large basket in the back... It's great exercise so I'm not without transportation... Besides, beans are cheap so I really do save money on gas... That's a good reason why they call us seniors, “Old Farts” (Excuse Me)... I have loved bikes all my life, so it's not a big deal for me to rely on one to peddle my butt all around my neighborhood... I'm looking forward to watermelon season... It's about 2 miles round trip to the produce stand... I can easily carry a watermelon in my bike basket... I keep my bike in my first floor apartment so when I get home I ride my bike up to my door & just roll it in... I then have only a few feet to carry it to my fridge... How convenient is that?

The cost of car insurance was getting prohibitive even though I had a Safe Driver written on my license, so I feel like I'm being paid good money to stay off the road... Rainy days are meant for naps anyway & since I live in the “Sunshine State”, most of the time I tend to hang out in “My Sunshine State of Mind”, the name of one of my Facebook pages...

Check it out & please leave a comment...
