Seniorisms by LMW, Why Little Fears Must Be Conquered!

I’ve learned from experience that in order to move in a forward motion to get on with our lives we must first overcome our fears… Learning this has helped me to conquer some of my biggest fears… If I’m not vigilant about my little fears they can turn out to be a destructive force just like the major fears because they will fester just like an open sore…  Pay attention, learn, then apply…

I’ll be 79 in December & I gave up driving this year because even with a safe driver on my license, my insurance kept going up…  I've loved bikes ever since my Dad taught me how to ride on only two wheels...  Now I have a three wheeled recumbent trike that I’m using to get around… I‘m originally from snow country where I used to bike year ‘round…  I now live in Florida where I can do that more comfortably… I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday & my scheduled ride didn’t show up as planned…  I had been toying with the idea of using my bike, but since part of the ride back home would be uphill, this became a little fear… I decided to see how long it would take me so I accepted the challenge…

It took me around 35 minutes… Before I tackled the return ride I went a few blocks further to get a custard ice cream shake from a special place I really like…  It was worth the extra distance because they have a butterfinger shake, my favorite, plus I had a $1 off coupon! It’s a good thing that place isn’t closer to home!  That was my reward for my accomplishment!  The round trip was about 7 miles…

Well, the trip home was a bit more difficult & it was hot out, but I managed without too much difficulty… It turned out I had that so built up in my mind that it would be nearly impossible, it had become a limitation to me…  The good news is now I know I don’t have to depend on anyone for a ride to my doctor…

Dedicated to the man I love!

The moral to my story is you’ll never know until you try!  Conquer those little fears & you’ll be better equipped to handle the big fears because there won’t be as many...
You’ve nipped them in the bud!

Signing off 'til next time this is,
