I found I was encouraging myself to "pay attention" to something earlier today and having always enjoyed words, their meanings and their origins, I began to give some thought to that phrase.

the act or faculty of attending, especially by directing the mind to an object.

Now for a slight twist of viewing the last two syllables as tension:
ten·sion [ten-shuhn]
1. the act of stretching
2. the state of being stretched
So it is not too much of a s..t..r..e..t..c..h to say we are likely to receive some of our greatest rewards from Pay At Tension!
Just make sure it is the good version of "tension"!
